Do i bet the river small here trying to get a cheap showdown or do i give up on the turn?

Played fine I think. No reason to give him credit for the 8 unless he says so. Then the flush falls and he bets into it. He may have bought it certainly looks like he is on a draw...he doesnt raise/bet untill the river. I give him credit for the flush and fold.

Check/fold the flop. At most you're going to get what 8 cents? seriously any called should scare you. don't play this hand on the flop.

its a tough spot to be in. i like to bet the flop with the intention of winning the hand right there. if i get a call, its proceed cautiously. the problem is that you lose the opportunity to rep the 888 with a checkraise on the turn, imo. i think you check the flop and fold the river.
