Villain runs 29/10 over 300 or so hands. He seems like the typical loose passive preflop player, tight passive post flop. Folds to cbets often. I have seen him limp AK and AQ behind limpers as well.

I figured firing the flop was ideal because it keeps the looser players in who like their two pairs, big FD etc. (They may even reraise me here. yay!) I'm not entirely sure about checking the turn however. After this player called my pot-sized flop bet and fires the turn, I put him on a flush or a set a good amount of the time. So I c/call because I have up to 10 outs, (unless he has a bigger set) and I'm pretty sure I can get him commited on the river if I hit. I folded the river because I'm behind everything he value bets here, even though his bet is only 1/4ish pot. Even if the river had come as a blank, I still would have folded to almost any bet most of the time.

How is my thought process? And is this standard?

Based on your reads and the flush and straight draws, I'd have to say you're beat. My guess is he's got an Ax. Only way I'd want to call here is for more information that I can use against him later. Just one of those bad breaks where your trips comes up against too many scare cards. The only other alternative is that he saw your check on the river as a missed draw and bet out to take it down. I'd say you're beat most of the time however.

I don't think you mean shove turn mxiu. That would be a huge overbet. We definitely need to bet the turn here.

pf I also raise, although I don't think calling is horrible. River fold is good.

As played, betting close to pot on the turn, river is gross, c/f

This is a standard raise mid-pp in LP for me.. what's your VPIP/PFR looking like?

Its definitely been looking weak here lately, and now I see why.
I run 16/11.

I've been trying to get it up higher by exploiting open limpers with high vpips and fold to cbet stats by raising wide and cbetting. I want to get it around 21/17 or so, but that seems impossible without becoming spewy.

Preflop is fine. Raising is also fine. I'd limp behind with 77 a high % of the time, and raise/limp about 50/50 with 88, and start raising 99 more often than limping. Flop is ldo standard, You pretty much have to be betting the turn. If you face a raise on the turn, well then you have a shitty situation imo. river is a c/f
