Pre-flop raiser, MP1, is a nit (13/5/2.5 over 300 hands). I haven't tangled with him at all, but he's seen me bully the table a bit, if he's paying attention. Button is laggy and bad.
Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Holdem Ring game - Blinds: $0.50/$1 - 8 players Converter
Stack sizes:
UTG: $58
UTG+1: $168.95
MP1: $123.30
MP2: $36.75
Hero: $161.90
Button: $105.50
SB: $93
BB: $100
Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is CO with 8 8
UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, MP1 raises to $5.5, MP2 folds, Hero calls, Button calls, 2 folds, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls.
Flop: 8 T T ($29, 5 players)
UTG checks, UTG+1 checks, MP1 checks, Hero ???

I'd say swing for the fences and bet whatever you would bet with AK.

This makes me think checking is OK because he may take a stab at it, leaving you in great position to trap a lot of dead money. I have also noticed that checking here in 50NL makes players think their 89 is good, or their 77.

Personally I'd check to let other people either catch up or take stabs at the pot. But by the turn you have come out of cover and start juicing the pot big time though.

Bet like $10 to $12 so that straight and flush drawers might chase and anyone who holds a T can check-raise you.

if you have been pushing everyone around how have you been doing it? If you've been betting out having been checked to like this then just carry on as normal whilst pricing in the draws.
If you are captain first bet after every flop then checking seems suspicious and i wouldnt trust it. Just hope someone has a read on you and a reasonable holding.

Leading is fine but I think checking is finer given your read on BTN. With so many opps in the hand, even if BTN checks behind, I want to give someone a chance to catch on the turn.

just because button is laggy and bad doesn't mean he's bluffing into 4 players for 1/3 of his remaining stack.
I consider checking, not because of button, but just because this is a good spot to slowplay. The pot is swollen, so theres no need to build it. Overpairs usually bet out, so it isn't like were worried about free cards.

if button is lagy and bad and caught anything surely if we make a moderate bet he will call allowing our nit to make an overcall with a big pp exercising pot control or just whiffed overs.

Since the pot is already 1/4th a full stack there's not much pot building to do so I like a check here.

Results:
I checked. Turn came 4d. Check to me, I bet $20, everyone folded except MP1 (pre-flop raiser). River came Kc, checked to me, I bet $50, villain folded.
Afterwards I was thinking I should have bet the flop, but maybe I milked everything I could out of it.
