I just finished playing in a £30+3 live freezeout. 16 runners. We're down to the last 5 and top 3 get paid.

my stack is 7000 chips. the short stack at the table has approx. 3000 chips. 2 players have about 15k each and the last player has about 8000 chips.
the blinds are at 300/600.
the table is quite tight.

i get dealt KQo UTG. I raise to 1800. the 8k stack folds. a 15k stack on the button moves allin. the other 2 players fold.

what do i do? the pot contains 4500+5200=9700 and i need to put in 5200. i need a 34.9% chance of winning to call.

i decided to call. hoping he had low pockets (ie. 66) or a hand like AJ.
he actually had AA. i lost the hand.
i think his range was probably very high. maybe TT+ and AQ+. with this range i should definitely fold. the only hands i'm happy to be up against are TT and JJ, but against all the rest i'm a dog.
i think if he had a hand like 99 or AJ he would have just flat called. probably even with AQs.

also, the table was quite tight i think i could have built myself up without the need to put all my chips at risk. i had come back from being a very short stack to a medium stack. i was stealing blinds a few pots and was in quite a comfortable position.

what do you think i should have done in the hand? now that i've gone through all this analysis i think i should have folded. but at the time, i just didn't think through the hand this deeply and i was thinking maybe he could have pocket 6s - so i need to call. but now i realize that he must have had a big hand. and with KQ i'm a dog against any big hand.

2. This belongs in the Sit-n-go forum or the MTT forum.

Now for my advice:
You really don't have a choice but to call, the pot odds are too good and your stack is kind of small.

I don't think this is a very clear call at all. The second biggest (or the biggest?) stack on the table decides to push when there's another big stack left to act. I have a hard time seeing him do this with small pairs and weak aces. Also noteworthy is that the table is tight and you raise UTG. If your plan is to check/call an all in it might be better to push right away.
