Ok, very interesting spot yesterday on stars. I had 3 hands in a row with a guy, where the chat box turned into a weapon. I rarely ever use the chatbox or show, but this seemed like such a great opportunity.

So 1st hand we chat and I make the big laydown and he laughs at me. very next hand I flop the nut flush and use his bluff in the last hand as an excuse to shove the river (which he calls). Very next hand I have KK and he shoves the flop.

Ill include full HH's so you can see the chat, which turned out to be important.

Comments pls. (took me ages to do this)

Well, given that we presume he had us crushed with his last overbet, I might fold.

Was he steaming?

Also, I really think your sppechplay and subsequent bet made you look very strong in hand 2. Think about it, would you ever do this if you were bluffing? I certainly wouldn't.

Well it's obvious to me that I was strong, but my read was right, he was a station idiot. By saying that I made him suspicious but he wanted to see if he was right.

Against a good player, there is no way im doing this. Thats why I titled the thread "playing the player."

Not sure what you mean by "given we presume he had us crushed with his last over bet." He showed his last over bet and it was a bluff.

Yes he was steaming, because he had been acting clever then donked off a stack to me.

Um what action in the first hand makes you think you should fold? I call river bet all day.

Maybe this is a leak of mine. at 25NL I reckon 8/10 players slowplay a Q there, then make a big river bet. I just didnt think I was ahead enough times to call. If there was a little more in the pot I would have called.

Anyone else call the river bet in hand 1 all day?

Your only beat by one card there, if he slowplayed then good job to him for playing it horribly. Its very unlikely anyone has a higher pocket pair then 8s because they would have bet out at least on the turn and probly the flop and you are now beating a very slowplayed set of 4s as well. Theres just no way you can give someone credit for quads every time the board has 3 of a kind on it.

oops, sorry I didn't see that he showed a bluff in hand 1.

He's steaming and wants to stack you ASAP. He's also aware that he showed a big bluff recently which might make you more likely to call him. Tough one but I'd say he has the A or better. But what do I know?
