Villain is 42/17 over 53 hands. My note on him is he lead KQo against a button raise + sb call from the big blind on a flop of A74r, and barreled the turn (4). He also bet $15 on the turn, which given the stakes, is a typed out bet unless he runs a script (doubtful).
He called my 3bet pretty fast.
I think his range is big pairs+random bway's or Ax. I want to fold the flop but I think I have the best hand some of the time and the backdooor fd+overcards is tempting me, especially if he leads with something like AQ - we have some implied odds in the instance we bink. I think given the price I can peel here since he can def show up with KQ/KJ/AQ here.
Thoughts?

I think it's got to be a fold considering he coldcalled the 3bet. I doubt we have the best hand here very much at all and it's just about conceivable that he can have 99/88 as well as AA/KK so we're drawing really thin a lot of the time. Obviously this is TT-QQ a lot too but I think we just have to fold given the amount of the time we're really screwed. I'd like to see him really get out of line preflop before I can add KJ/KQ and other broadways to his range unless you've seen something not mentioned in op.
It's interesting that he typed out a bluff earlier and he's typing out here, but that might just mean he doesn't know how to use the slider/is not in the habit of it since it won't make much difference to a 1-tabling fish. I wouldn't read too much into it, it's not a solid read which we can base our actions on imo.

If the board was something like Q 8 2 rainbow, it really depends on how much action you think you'll face on the turn and river combined with how likely you think you can get him to fold. If he's a calling station, raising the flop isn't good nor is bluffing later. If he's aggressive and more bets are coming, I'm not crazy about a call. We can find a much better spot against a 42/17. But, if there's a chance he'll give up firing it would be nice to get to showdown cheaply with what probably is the best hand a reasonable amount of the time. If he's the type that can be pushed off the hand, raise or biggish lead out for value/protection/bluff could be profitable.
However, for THIS board, it's probably best to give up against just about everyone. There are so many straights, straight draws, 2 pairs, sets, and just someone getting enough of a piece of that board, that we should proceed with caution even if we got an ace or king on the turn.

If the board is Q82r our equity with AK will be significantly worse than if the board is what it is and would not consider floating at all.

I've seen guys like this call 3bets oop with broadway hands i.e. KJ/KQ and AQ but I agree that we shouldn't necessarily assume he is loose in this way until we have reason to believe so. Also agree that him typing out the bet isn't necessarily a good read because you make a good point of him just not knowing how to use the slider which is very possible.
