The hard thing about this hand his my position. As played preflop should I stick to my plan of "hit set or get out" even with no overs on the flop? I didn't want to raise this preflop because I'm unlikely to hit the flop strong but with multiple opps I don't have the slightest clue how many of them are going to limp/call. My flop check is likely incorrect, but given that, I think I have to keep checking the turn here, right? But for crying out loud, it's a $1 bet in a $5 pot! Do I raise it? Do I just call for the odds that he doesnt have a Q? Also, there's the rest of the field to act behind me still.

Seat 9: shaggy_fixit ($115.75 in chips)

Do you open cbet this missed flop or do I worry about a pocket pair calling me down or raising? What range calls an EP 3x raise that can tell me anything about how dangerous it is to be betting out of position here?

No, bet flop see what happens. If raised I sometimes call the flop and bet the turn intending to fold to a raise but I very often get folds in this spot. As played I call turn and c/c another small river bet depending on number of players left in pot and what hits but this spot sucks. Folding isn't awful either.

I don't worry about that. If you have any kind of read at all that would be nice but standard is just betting.

We can't tell you that. Lots of nits will fold 99 here since you opened in EP and pot the flop. Some people will float you with T9s.

i agree woth lahloozaher

hand1- bet flop. cautious against strong resistance

hand2- I c/b here 2. about 2/3 to Pot. we dont kno much on opp so should assume he isnt very tight.

Say your flop bet is called and the turn is another blank. What factors do you consider when deciding to check or bet the turn? Tons of people will call almost any flop bet simply because it is very common for opp to cbet a flop like that holding AK-AJ. Given this fact, it's possible A high is still the best hand on the turn, although appearing much less likely on the surface. Sometimes this is why tight preflop players can have a hard time playing against loose preflop players - there's no way to know what he's calling preflop with, and since he's got position and a read on you, you aren't left with many options. Is it better to climb back in the tent and camp some more? Should I just learn 6 max once and for all?

1. Pay attention to your table. You should know where the calling stations are, and where the tighties are.
2. Two barreling here some of the time is ok against a tight player who assumes you dont two barrel here without a hand. Dont do it against calling stations unless their is an obvious draw and you think A high is still good.
3. Make your preflop opneing range less predictable. Im assuming you would fire again here sometimes with a mid pp you think is good, hence open SOMETIMES with non standard hands in mp/lp so that if you two barrel this turn you dont have either missed overs a big pair (or perhaps a set) but possibly middle/top pair weak kicker like 87s or something.

FWIW, always c-bet then decide how often you want to take a free card on the turn or try to steal the pot with a second barrel.
