??? I am beginning my ring game seriousness tonight and will be reviewing hands I lost money on and posting them periodically with questions like this, so this is the first. According to PT, this is the hand I lost the most on during my short session (it's bedtime got work tomorrow).

1) better than 3:1 is instacall with midpair+
2) why 13bb with unmade hand pf? as played, you can't call, unless you have him zeroed in on AJ for stacks.
Think about it. Your pf raise was 13bb, your flop bet 15bb. his flop raise was to about 40bb, pricing you in into what is definitely a -EV call.

hand 1 is fine preflop and i dont mind calling the flop.
hand 2, just raise to .80 pre. Then your c-bet is smaller and you can get away when he pushes. As played fold.

Hand 2 - Well I would hope it is pretty obvious that you can't call the all-in. I think you should be more interested in how you played it preflop which, as others have pointed out, was a bit over the top.

Hand 1 is fine
Hand 2 why the monster pre-flop raise? And you gotta fold to the all-in

Ty for the input guys, I am not that great at ring so I didn't know what would be a good raise on that 2nd hand, hence why I posted it.
I wanted a few to fold and I guess I thought at this level if I did a smaller raise, everyone would come on in regardless, which I didn't want with AQ.
I went with my gut on that 2nd hand and called though, I know it's -EV, and I shouldn't have but it just didn't make sense based off what I had saw of his plays, and he had AJ.

rule for set hunting in small stakes games: if you get 15:1 on his stack knowing he wont fold his hand very often postflop then call.
Fwiw, at 200nl ive folded AA before showdown once in 30k hands. Theres your implied odds.
