check call turn if it isnt a pot bet lead river fold to a raise.
I like the check/call turn line better because i will check/raise here with a big made hand or if i flopped say an oesd that just picked up a flush draw or something similar too.

Why lead/fold river as opposed to check-calling river too?

if we call a decent value bet by a better hand on the turn and lead the river only a better hand will raise our scary looking line

Lots of better hands will still call though, right? Plus some worse hands will fold. If we take a lead flop - check-call turn - check river line we come off looking weak and might have a lot of worse hands try and push us off?

I fire again with air here all the time -- why wouldn't I do that with an actual hand?
Most likely hand to me is some small sc, 78s? Make him pay to hit the straight.
If they have you crushed (55 or 66 here does limp/call keep in mind not raising the flop is ok since its fairly dry), they'll probably scream it quite loudly. Pitch to that kind of aggression. Otherwise 2/3 to 3/4 pot bets will take this one down pretty often.
