Your range: QJ, T9, 87, set, QQ+?

I call with KK+, QdJd, 8d7d, sets, T9?

Edit: Add that I call with 87 and QJ and maybe JJ b/c of pot odds obv.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

Since you've been active we can put most any draw into your range. You believe we have an overpair (at least you should, since we are standard TAG) and would not raise with AK-AQ with no draw here.

Suited connectors are more likely to be in your hand than gappers, so I'm putting your range as weighted toward flush draws, straight draws and sets. To me if you are "active", you are reraising any pp over TT, so you wouldn't have an overpair.

I'm gonna go with your range as 68d, 78d, 79d, JQd, 44, 99, TT, A9d-AQd (excluding ATd) and maybe one or two random weird hands

I call with any set, broadway flush draw, and QQ+. And the reason I call with the flush draws is because you've been active and may have flush draw + overcard outs.
Save your stories 'cuz they're all the same..

my ranges are about the same as above. i ran...

"active's" range...44,99+,9Ts,QdJd,KdQd,AdXd,78s,

my calling range...44,99,TT,QdJd,T9s

and, i am 75/25 over this range...which means i need to call wider, imo.

This is going to make me seem like a total retard I realize, but calling with KK+ in situations somewhat similar to this has lost me a LOT of money... so I'd like nice clear explanation if possible.

Are we calling with KK+ in this situation because the board is draw heavy? (Meaning that the fact that the board is draw heavy opens up the range of hands the villian (in this case XTR1k) would do this with... some of which we are flipping with or are ahead of... increasing our EV, against a drier board where the oppenent is only likely to do this with a set?) If the board is more scattered about 47Jr, or even 59Tr... do we still call with KK+?

Thanks.
So you click their picture and then you get their money?

In THIS specific instance, our information is that XTR has been "active", which means he has the capability of making moves with a wider range of hands than just a set. You also have to increase his range because he's in later position. We have to open up our calling range because of this, that's why you call with KK+, etc. Rainbow boards are harder, because you have to distinguish somebody going nuts with TPTK from possible sets. I think it's easier to find folds on rainbow boards and boards like 8 high because of a bigger likelihood (especially with the given action), that our villain in this hand would have a set.
Save your stories 'cuz they're all the same..

I have a feeling your range for bet/3betting all in is the same for mine of raising a donk bet and calling all in. I fold JJ+ to your line but big draw+sets are what I call with which is what you have.

here's a new range to call the "active" villain with. it runs 53% favorite.

99+,44,QdJd,T9s,8d7d

all i added were pps over 9's and 78 of diamonds. but, i dont like drawing to ass-ends of straights when felting a hand...no matter what pstove would say. i would rather add AJd+...knowing my overcard outs are dirty as all hell.

The equity of your entire range is irrellevant here. You need to make an equity calculation on each individual hand to see if you should call with it. Elseway, what happens is that you'll come to the conclusion that you should call with hands such as JJ which has 29% equity when you really need ~36%.

I was actually about to post the same thing about JJ when I read Chopper's post.
