I bet the set from the beginning got raised from what I knew was an overpair and reraised all-in before a scare card could hit the board giving him an excuse to fold. I figured he might put me on a lower overpair or a pair + straight draw combo. Espically since I called his PFR from the big blind.

He thought about it for a long time, and with 2 seconds left on his timer called (yikes!).

Good play?

Nice, had you seen previous evidence to suggest he would call this?

Spin, I'm just curious, how would you describe your style of play? It seems to me you are a high stakes player who posts alot of set related hands. I'm not trying to knock this, I'm interested in the concept. Is alot of your play predominantly ABC?

I am defintely not an ABC player anymore. I used to be, but my playing style has changed radically recently. I am still tight, but I am ultra-aggressive and I do a lot of stone cold bluffing and semi-bluffing. Basically if I think you're weak and I can get you off the hand, I'll raise everytime, regardless of my holdings.

The reason I post so many threads about sets vs. overpairs is because its one of the most important situations that shows up in NL Hold 'em cash games. Playing both sides is very important, knowing when to make the lay down, and how to disguise your set so you get called by the overpair.

Yea I think the trick here is that you called from the BB. He's not going to generally put you on the set - probably 87 or somesuch.
Nice payday for ya!
