i was already up a few buy-ins and played like a rock for a while before this hand. The table was basically passive preflop/postflop. My opponent was a mid-age talking guy in his 40s and limped/called a lot. Basically, he looked like playing passive poker for fun and excitement.
Villain( $280), Hero ($680)
Utg limped, villain(MP2) limped and hero on the CO raised to $15 with :As: :Qs:, blinds folded, utg folded, UTG2 folded, villain instantly called $15.

flop($35): :Ad: :Ac: villain checked, hero bet $25, villain called
turn($85): villain checked, hero bet $50, villain called
river($185) : :Tc: villain gave an annoying look and bet $120, hero ?

if hero is planning on folding to a large river bet he should have checked behind on the turn. pot control ftw.

otherwise, call. too many bad aces can make this play to fold this hand here. trips are the nuts, regardless of kicker to these people, and if this isn't the case, you need to find a new game where they think TP is the nuts, because there are lots of them.

the fact that he gave an annoying look is sick... you should have tried talking to get more information out of him, it's amazing how much people will talk when they should just stfu. i'm so bad at folding but i might fold here. MIGHT.

I'd call the jack high flush, but I'm folding the trips. Your table image makes this fold super-easy. Consider the hands he's putting you on.

This advice sucks given how rare his river donk figures to be.

Is this an example where betting a little harder on the turn might have taught us more? Like $100? Or possibly push the river so the guy actually has to call for his whole buyin.

Not giving advice, I'm actually asking to see if you guys think bet sizing would make a difference here.

well as that would be an apt description of pokering suicide right here...no. Though I dont mind a slightly larger turn bet as he still calls with all the aces were ahead of and if he raises we simply fold.

he first gave an annoying look, shoved his chips toward the center and then stared at me aggressively. Are these two controversial tells? By the way,i'm pretty sure that no one at the table noticed my image. Also, i noticed that he overvalued his TPWK in a few spots and paid off big bets.

My feeling considering your description of how the hand went is that he had 1010 (with the 10 of diamonds) and finally hit a hand. Did you have any other tells besides the quick call preflop, like when the flop hit? Did he react at all?

he just called me passively & quickly until the river and then showed sudden aggression. I really saw this guy pay off big in other spots when his TPWK got crushed.

you keep saying that he has paid off tpwk in the past. Did he ever lead out with these or just flat called big bets?
Poker is easy, it's winning at poker that's hard.

Generally weakness, although I'm probably going to defer to the strength of his line and probably let him have this one. If I was in the moment, I could call here. It's very much a flow decision for me.

I get the nasty stare a lot because I play a super TAGgy live game compared to the other players. Usually when I play back or call down I'm happy with the results.

Ding ding ding ding. As much as I love tells, betting patterns always come first. It's not like we can put him on a busted draw here.
