First, read Fnord's Hand histories guidelines if you haven't done so already. That can be found here: http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...poker-2566.htm

There's a few things I'd like to point out. First:

Quote:
o Hands must contain one or more interesting decisions and/or illustrate a tricky concept. Bad beats, royal flushes, big pots, etc. should be posted in the Tales of Poker forum.
If a bunch of money goes in preflop, you flop middle set on a drawless board, and somebody pushes allin his range is much wider then top set and you should call. If he has it, sorry. I love looking at a hand where hero is confronted with a tough decision, trust me. But if it's something ridiculous where you aren't getting away, sorry you got cold-decked. If you still feel the need to show somebody how unlucky of a player you are, post it here: http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...0ab1c2eb42a32f

And the flip side of this, if you flop the nuts, get it all-in, and lose to rivered quads, again, there's no reason to post this here! Word on the street is that gabe would appreciate more traffic in his forum, located here: http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...holdem-42.html

---

Quote:
o Clean up hand histories manually, or use a converter
From now on, I would like everyone to start doing this. I'm not going to delete or lock any threads where you don't, but if you want someone to take the time to give quality advice on a hand, you should take the time to make the necessary information required to give that advice as easy as possible to find.

If the converter does not work for the site you play on, your site doesn't provide hand histories (pacific poker), or you just don't want to convert it, then make a simple post with pertinent information in it. This includes stack sizes, position, number of players in the hand, table dynamics, reads, cards, ALL ACTION, and nothing beyond the point you have a question about (including stuff like future action, future cards, results, etc). An example can be found here:
http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...oker-34957.htm

The link to the converter can be found here: http://poker-tools.flopturnriver.com/Hand-Converter.php

Also, if you have no idea what you are talking about, make sure to say something along the lines of, "but I've never played anything above NL10 so my advice might not be the best, but I tried". I'm not trying to imply that all NL10 players have no idea what they are doing, I'm just saying that people are seeking quality advice here, and if you aren't sure you are capable of providing that, you should let them know that.

Yeah, is it my imagination or are there many more histories recently where hero is asking, 'oh no, i'm put all in and i have middle set, should i fold to top set?'
It always strikes me as a dream situation.

Also, Party, or perhaps my computer, has always acted up with downloading the HH's, and now at UB i'm not sure what is going on, so taking the type to manually type out the HH and use the snazzy playing card emoticons is much better than a non converted HH, IMO.

So, to incorporate these two ideas:

Full Ring NL .50/1.00

Relevant stacks:
HERO : 150ish
VILLAIN: 180ish

VILLAIN is a donkeyish LAG who ran up this two buyin shy stack very quickly with agressive plays, hasn't went to showdown yet. My image is tight and perhaps weak, at least to him if he can pay attention, considering the card have been cold since he sat down.

HERO is dealt in SB.

One limp, VILLAIN raises to 12.00 from MP.

All folds, HERO calls, limper calls.

Pot: 37.00

Flop:

HERO checks, limper checks, VILLAIN bets 32.00

HERO calls, limper folds.

Pot: 111.00

Turn:

HERO checks, VILLAIN goes all-in. (How he ran up the this stack in about 2.5 orbits, hasn't been looked up yet)

HERO calls.

River:

VILLAIN turns over : , pair of kings.

Never fold a set on the flop, and on a dry board, never fold it at all, in my intermediate (not beginner, not advanced) opinion, pay off a higher set.

Good thread, mod.

I find this hand converter: http://www.neildewhurst.com/hand-converter more reliable than FTR's. Especially when someone goes all-in. Sorry FTR, otherwise I love you.

Thank you for posting this lukie, hand conversions take like 5 seconds to do. If your hand doesnt convert use the neildewhurst one. If it still doenst convert [which Ive had happen to me] then replace the cards with the FTR emoticons.

I just scrolled down the list and found a thread that served my point. Take a look at this post: http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...oker-35562.htm

Can you honestly tell me that this HH is easy to read and interpret? Is it enjoyable? If you answered no, then do what most people do and convert it. If it doesn't work, just make a short, generic hand history that is easy to read.

If you answered yes, you're lying.

Like I said, this isn't something I want to, or intend, on strictly enforcing. But I've noticed that unedited HH's tend to get a lower quantity and quality of advice. Sometimes I see a HH that I have trouble interpretting and just skip over it. Up to you I suppose, although I think the readers in the forum would appreciate you taking the time to make a quality post.

FYI - Eric and TylerK are trying to work on some of the issues regarding the hand converter, so hopefully we can improve its functionality and reliability.

Point of contention
I understand that HH and i found it readable. Im not lying.
The point is ive played on that site and have had to use/understand that type of HH. I took the time out to learn it because i had no choice. While party and stars may do exquiste HH's other sites do not. Please bear that in mind.
Secondly, if i have to convert my hand then i want to see an established code of how to do it or else get the HHconverter to work properly with these types of hands. Otherwise im going out of my way to produce something that you might just go 'that HH sucks' or 'it hasnt been converted' which quite frankly pisses me off.
This arguement works both ways, so if we have problems just stick a method up highlighting how non-standard HH's from 'other sites' should be handled. I try my best as one who has played poker away from the major sites for a while and actually find this post quite offensive as it can take me half an hr to post one hand because the HHconverter doesnt work with the format i have and yet when i try to get around that problem a post appears pretty much saying 'dont do that!'
