My ultra tight early SnG play hit me where it hurts the most. I don't think my fold here was that outrageous, i've been hurt by wired pairs early on often enough to not let this "coulda been" change my game. But i'll welcome anyone who want to call me an idiot here

i won't call you an idiot, but i will submit a Banning Request Form on you!

i've done the same, and then screamed "d'oh" when the board hit.

so, i'll tell you the same things it took me awhile to figure out:

- you're in the BB, if you call, no one can reraise you
- at 80 more chips, i'd complain about it (to the cat ), but i'd call
- sets and implied odds - such potential!!!
- you'd have your quads on the turn, so you could check/call, and hope someone hits their flush or boat on the river

dude, you suck!
i hate what i have become to escape what i hated being...

My requirements for playing small pocket pairs.

I'll call up to a 5x PFR, IF the raiser has a nice fat stack to pay me off with. Or if the other callers have enough to pay me off. I'm looking for about 10x the what I have to call. I won't always get all of that, but why call a 4x raise if you can only win 5 all together?

FLOP A SET OR FOLD!

Pretty simple.

I've done the same thing. Although never preflop unless it was a huge raise with a small pair. You live and learn. On the flip side, no fives could have come at all. So don't beat yourself up about it.

Big Lick

Well, don't worry about your play. Yet, do worry about your play. I've done the same thing. A raise from a solid player makes me fold my smaller pocket pair.

http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...pic.php?t=1987

But as they said to me, the implied odds are too great for me not to call. I made the mistake of not calling, and so did you. But don't feel too bad, it's not the worst thing, but something to work on.

Once you play it, if you don't improve on the flop, be prepared to post and fold. However, there are a lot of cases where you don't need to improve to have the best hand. Imagine having 66 against AJ and the flop comes 83T. Scary flop, even if you do have the best hand.
I don't know what they have to say
It makes no difference anyway.
Whatever it is...
I'm against it.

I would have folded this too, I don't think the odds are there for this and if they are it's marginal. Fold and save the 80 chips for when you have a better hand. With the raise in front there is also the possiblilty that you hit your set and lose to a bigger set.
Poker is all about the long long long long long long long term . . .

Yeah, the raise is more than a 10th of your stack. I fold this as well. The exception is if I'm a very big stack, but even then I still may.

But, I could maybe benefit from being a bit looser on calling raises with them, who knows. Until about a month ago I was much tighter than I am now. Before I'd typically fold a small pocket pair to any raise bigger than a minraise.

Still, this is a lot to call in this hand, relative to your stack.

Sigh indeed. I think I was correct to fold this UTG though, even if I am chip leader
