$200 NL River bet

Looks like a routine shove to me. Hard to think you're beat and I hate betting less than a shove in these spots.

i don't understand what you are asking? this looks like the easiest jam in the world. am i missing something?

i, too, am interested to hear the rationale behind checking here.

vs two villains makes it slightly more likely that one of them hits a river straight, but it's pretty rare (TJ means calling a gutshot twice, T6 is unlikely to see a flop, 56 is only occasional). They beat TT most of the time they call on the river, but you absolutely crush TT so all good - they can easily call a jam with overpairs, two pairs, and lower sets.

That's exactly what I did, and afterward, I felt kind of silly since I was way ahead, but I still felt like my reasoning was sound.

That quote was pretty much my reasoning for checking. But like I said, I felt kind of dumb afterward when the BB showed and the MP showed . I have no idea what the pocket fours was thinking. I guess he was trying to be a hero, but I'm pretty sure he would have folded to a river bet.

My reasoning was this: a straight is the only thing that's going to call me. I put at least one of them on a draw, either the straight draw or the flush draw. It's hard to put one of them on the 9T because it's the case nine, so that leaves 56, and the busted flush draw won't call me.

With the draw potential on the board, I couldn't understand why they would check call all the way to the river with an overpair, two pair, or trips. So one had a pair and the other had a draw or they both had a draw. Either way, nothing is going to call me unless I get check raised by the 56. If someone has the A8, the nine is their scare card. They could put me on 89 or 9T or a straight, so they probably wouldn't call either.

I'm still not sure if this is the right thought though. I feel like I need to figure out how to be a little more aggressive on the river, and this hand really stuck out as one that I could have played differently. Considering my rep at that point, I'm pretty sure the 9T would have called a nice sized value bet, so I lost some money here.

This is a very easy shove because he doesn't bet with a ton of hands he calls with.

Bet larger on the turn. As played on the river I think I prefer a very small bet, perhaps the same size as you bet the turn or maybe even smaller. Given the card removal of your hand, I doubt you get looked up here very often when you shove.

Checking is an extremely bad play, like as in you shouldn't be playing 1/2 IMO. No offense.

Checking seems better than shoving. When we shove, what calls us? All that's left in their ranges that can call is T9, J9, JT. With blockers, TJ is way more likely. Plus top pair might even fold to shove, since we've 3barrelled after opening pre. If we have notes that tell us either of these can call big river bets with junk pairs, then yeah shove becomes a lot easier.

I can see the merit in betting a small amount. There's value against 8x if we keep it small.

tbh i think it's nearly impossible to have worse call a shove unless u coolered the living fuck out of them

I'd wager that both villains are too scared to bluff rivers with missed draws in 3ways enough that we have to bet something. Smallbet is probably better than shove. The shit that can call a shove will shove over mostly anyway.

bet 1/3 pot on the river and get looked up by at least one player very often. I think shoves never get called here by anything that checks to you which is not the nuts.

Sometimes players call bets before the river because they think they're ahead. Take this hand for example.

I'm definitely just shoving the river, there is like, nothing that beats you enough to not shove.

Yeah, but Ram, I think there's enough weaker hands that will call a v-bet but not a shove.

I would have bet a bit larger on the turn 3way.

As played easy river shove .

Value betting small is much much better than shoving the river.
