Hey... instead of doing a $10+1 freezeout for the Tournament Of Champions after this season, how would you guys feel about doing a $5 rebuy tourney?

As usual, only the top 10 of each season may play, of course.

How 'bout making the entire Gauntlet rebuys? Either that or put them back up to $10+$1 freezouts. Personally, I think $5+$0.50 is too rinky-dink. I'm all for encouraging participation etc., but they're less attractive to play than they used to be. If we're putting in a couple of hours of play, let's at least play for a decent prize pool.

I feel you, Warpe. But as of last season, we're still not quite at the level of consistent participation that I'd like to see. Perhaps it's because of the low prize pools. Perhaps it's because of the relatively low player pool. It's most likely a bit of both.

As the FTR member base grows, so does our Gauntlet player pool. If we get a consistently solid average number of players per game this season (maybe around 30), I'll bump the buy-in back to $11 for next season.

I re-read the post-Season V buy-in discussions before deciding on this season's buy-in amount, and I didn't see a compelling number of people dissatisfied with the low buy-in (though, I know you wanted the $11 buy-in). But I do understand what you're saying.

Having the entire season be rebuys is something we haven't done yet. That's an interesting idea and I'll consider that as well for next season.

I am the biggest rebuy donk, so if TOC is a rebuy, the prize pool will be huuuuge.

I voted for "don't care"

And about the buyin amount, $5 isn't that much different from $10 to people who play stakes higher than those amounts, but the difference is huge to those who play micro stakes. If someone who regularly plays $400NL wasn't going to play for $5, I doubt $10 would change their minds that much. I think leaving the buyin at $5 is good for now.

Did you really? Because I did the same and the count is a 1.

Anyways, it really doesn't matter to me what the buy-ins are, whatever you think will get the most players is what I want to go with.

IDC

Don't make the whole season rebuys. The games will take too long

I think a TOC rebuy could be fun, but I agree with Swig -- don't make the whole season rebuys. I vote IDC, I really prefer freezeouts but see the merit in making the TOC rebuy. If it gets support, I'm ok with it.
On moving up, properly rolled:

rebuys would take along time, i like being able to buy in cheap. I'm dead money so the less I have to give away the better.

A rebuy for the final event would be ok.
3 3 3 I'm only half evil.

If only 10 people are playing, it's actually just a sit'n'go.

I don't play sit'n'gos but I have never heard of a rebuy sit'n'go.

It's the top 10 from each season, so there's ~45 players eligible to play right now, not including this season's top 10.

TOC rebuy sounds good. I dont know if we can make it happen this season, but adding a 6max event, HU, and rebuy would be cool to have mixed throughout the season.

Mixed events killed attendance when we tried to do it in Season IV. I will not go there again for a long, long while... if ever. Please look:

Other game formats were planned and scheduled for the remainder of that season, but I decided not to after the horrible attendance of Games 4 and 7.
