Could we work out a no game maximum to the league?
Maybe the winner of the league could be determined by average points (minimum 50% games played) or total profit on the season instead of total points.

Maybe keep best X scores.
Suppose 24 games, so max would be 12. I don't think requiring 12 games to be in contention makes sense, but maybe require 8 and use spenda's idea, or use the top 12 scores (although people would still be punished for playing in late season low turn-out events by spenda's method, they would possibly gain by not playing via my method)

That seems fair but I think it should be more like min. 40% games played because I have realized how tough it is to have time to play all the games I wanted to this round.

Not at all if you use average points or total profit.
Frankly I think total profit might be the best barometer.

I think this is a great idea! And I like the 'keep the best x scores' plan. So if someone plays 24 games, they can take the top 12 finishes of the 24 they played? (or however many finishes it is)

Might this hurt european players who struggle to make the Wednesday game?
E.g. Spenda (or whoever) can play every one and has 24 opportunities to get 12 good scores while european players only have 12 opps.

Keep it as is IMO. Some people struggle to play the max # of games as is.

What would be cool is a season ending tournament of the top 9 points getters.. maybe set aside all prize money during the season and give the top 2-3 finishers of this last tournament an entry into a circuit event? Winners agree to wear FTR gear, etc etc.
Or you could just give the winner of the points race an entry.
Either way, I guarantee you'd attract an assload of more people to participate in the gauntlets.

What is the purpose for the request Spenda?
I haven't put a lot of thought into it, but either sounds ok I guess, although I don't like the idea of the "top x games" If you play in 24 then you should get that average point total or that amount of winnings.
As long as there is a minimum number of games required I still think the better players (myself excluded because I just have a damn awesome luckbox) will end up at or near the top by the end of the league anyway.
The ONLY negative I see is that the leader could just sit out tournies until someone gets close to their score.

The main purpose is there are 8 games left this season and I can play in only 1 more. I've played in a few that have had small turn-outs including the Omaha games and some Wed. night games.
I just feel like is someone wants to help promote the league and help it grow even bigger that they should be able to play in all the events. If this is to be allowed then there needs to be a way to pick a league winner not based solely on the fact that someone played all 24 tournaments but based on skill+results.

I don't see what you only being able to play one more has to do with anything, but I do think people should be able to play as many as they want since we need more players.
Best X scores is probably the best method IF the goal is less fairness and more participation(which I am cool with). I think first X probably makes the most sense if you want to be more fair. If you do an average over X, there would be an incentive not to play if you had your 12 and were leading.

The total earnings Idea is pretty good When it's looked at deeper. If you only play the smaller field tourneys your prize pool is smaller, but you would get rewarded for playing in as many as you can. I see nothing wrong with a trophy going to someone who played in all 24 instead of someone that can only make 3 or 4 like me. It would also give some of the smaller stakes players a chance to win by strictly volume instead of having to do well in the 12 they play.
For those that can't play many maybe some FTR gear or something for highest avg. over say 8 games or more.

To increase turnout for sure. There are certain people who would play every game if they could because they enjoy it, but they can't because of the game limit. It would be nice if everyone who wanted to play could play because we're always wanting higher turnout for the games.

This is such a good idea, and something I've been thinking about too.... we should def use something like this next gauntlet.

Don't get me wrong, I definitely like the idea of looking at the scoring. Spenda also makes a great comment about playing in lower turnout games. If we are going to stay with the PLO8 and HU tournies (which I absolutely think we should) then people shouldn't be worried about playing in them because of the low turnout or because they don't want to "waste a tourney".
TBH, I am sticking to the Regular or 6Max tournies for the rest of my 16 because of the fact that I am in the running for the title. It would be cool to be able to play in one of the other ones this late without it hurting my overall chances.

What he said.
I'd be interested to know the breakdown by country of those that have played say more than 4 games this year. I'm sure it's mainly US and you may chose to make a decision based on that but I'd still like to play the Gauntlet next time.
There's just no way I can make may Wednesday's and I'm sure this is the same for most European players. If there is any advantage in playing every game (such as the best X scores) then this cripples us.

I like the idea of removing the maximum games you can play and the $$ profit to determine leaders makes sense. Would the fact that the payout structure is different per type of game (i.e., the 6 max seems to only pay top 3 regardless of participants while the full ring splits across 5 -6) have to be addressed with a movement to $$ profit structure though?
