This is from the Gauntlet last night -- I think it was my worst play of the night but I'm curious.
I'll post the river and results after some analysis.
Mostly I'm curious what you put the guy on when he raises the flop. This is one of my typical mistakes -- since there's only one guy in with me, I assume he doesn't actually have the magic card (a 9) that he's repping.

My thoughts on the hand.
You've shown aggression twice.
Your raise on the flop.
Your bet on the turn.
He's betting into you, at this point I'd just let it go before you get too deep. your holding High card to what appears to be a made hand.
Now one way I can help against ending up in this situation is to stop minimum betting and min raising.
Min-bet/raise will not get someone to lay down a hand they wern't already going to fold.
Min-bet/Rais will not break someones pot odds and force them to fold a draw.. You are making it correct for them to call you down chasing a flush/straight.
When you raise 3-4x the BB then people look at your raise iwth some concern. Your saying I HAVE A HAND! Call it if you will.
When you bet on the flop/turn and river Bet with a purpose! Raise the pot if you think they are on a draw, don't give it to them cheap. If you think you have hte best hand at that time Bet big! Don't make it cheap for them.
Aggression will take down more pots than anything. If you want to see what i mean look at my hand history from the gauntlet.
223 hands played and I only had to show 8. 3 of which were after we made it to the final 5. I took down I believe 35 pots without showing.
Bet with a purpose. When you bet raise, ask yourself what am I trying ot accomplish, does my bet/raise reflect this?

Whats really funny is riptyde finished 12th. He actually made it into the league points.

Definitely worried about that on the flop. But I suspected this guy (chip leader) might just be trying to pickup on a flop that missed me. It sure did.
But with the third two appearing I think thus: no PF raise from chip leader on the button -- probably not a pp. Very unlikely he has a 2, and if he does God Bless him because he quadded me and when you quad me you get to have my chips.
You will see in the sequel that he had a hand I did not consider -- a very small pair -- and that explains pretty much all the facts.
You will also see that I did the dumbest thing when my hand became unbeatable: I neglected to give him a chance to bluff.

Here are my numbers -- what do you think?
238 hands played and saw flop:
- 10 times out of 47 while in small blind (21%)
- 20 times out of 47 while in big blind (42%)
- 34 times out of 144 in other positions (23%)
- a total of 64 times out of 238 (26%)
Pots won at showdown - 12 out of 16 (75%)
Pots won without showdown - 46

Hey LeFou...
1st off, I would like to apologize if I offended you in anyway last night (in ref. to the other thread you created). I think it was the hand when you held 10 2 (Brunson) and I had K J, and you caught a 10. It was just good fun, and again, I apologize.
As for the hand, I remember this one well. I can't believe that 4th 2 came...

I was definatley trying to pick this pot up. That's the flop I wanted (9 2 2). I suspected you had two overs, and I was content with taking the pot down right then and there.

I usually don't raise low PP's. Maybe that's not the correct play, but I usually call just to see if I can hit a set. Your raise of only 150 was not enough to push me out with 4 4. At this point, I thought I had it in the bag.

No way I was calling any bet you made here with just a 4 kicker. I knew you had the nuts, because I was 99.9% sure you held the Ace. Any bet you make here, no matter what it is, I fold. Fold the hand the moment you know you can't win. That's what I did here.
I'll be on the look for you next time. Great job in winning, my friend.
Later,
Kling
