The FTR Gauntlet VIII will be up and running shortly. Huzzah!
If you're unfamiliar with how the Gauntlet has run in the past, read the rules from the previous seasons here: http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...te-t60313.html
The purpose of this thread is to generate ideas on when the league games should be held. Previously, Gauntlet events were scheduled Wednesdays at 10pm EDT and Sundays at 3pm EDT. Please comment on if these times are still good for you. If not, please propose a preferred schedule.
One of the goals of the Gauntlet is to accomodate players from around the globe, so please keep this in mind when proposing any new times. Thanks.

Sundays work for me, Wednesday don't. I think the scheduled times are good I just won't be home Wednesday nights.

I'd prefer sat to sun just because I need the screen space on Sundays and I can't have fun/chat as much even if I do play.
Are there any stats on ave total on Wed vs Sundays?

Last season IIRC was a 32 game schedule and you could play 16 games max ( I think another 2 got added to schedule due to cancelled games). 5 of the 6 cancelled games were on Sundays and being a Euro I could not play on Wednesdays to make up the shortfall in the games I played.
I think it would be better to have a schedule with less games and/or having the maximum number of games people can play set at less than 50% of games e.g. if schedule is 24 games, players can play 10 max. Not many played the 16 max last season anyway. Not every player can commit to play every week and more players will play the maximum number of games resulting in a closer league.
One more suggestion - games do not have to be every week. If Gauntlet is going to clash with -insert American event here- do not schedule it that week as this was a reason for the cancellations on Sundays.

nadah - 8pm EST is 1am GMT (London).
I'm always quite keen to play in Gauntlet and some of the freerolls/FTR things but 1am is too late for me (bed at 3ish is no fun when you're up at 8!)

My apologies, guys. That should have said Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). We just switched last weekend.
EDT is GMT - 4 hours.

I like the weeknight games but would be ok if they started earlier (say 8 instead of 10), but that may make it harder for those on the West Coast of the US.
The reality is that you are never going to settle on times that work for everybody unless you have 3 to 4 different time slots, but if you have more time slots per week your per game attendance would probably drop.
I hate to say it, but I think we are going to end up with a time format very close to what we already have and tbh it really isn't that bad as long as you avoid holiday weekends/big events, etc.

As a Euro, I don't mind the schedule as it is although it means I only get to play once a week and occassionally have to get up in the middle of the night on a Wednesday if I missed a game to get my full quota in.
Having said that, two at the weekend would be great. Maybe one a little later on a Saturday to satisfy the US (6pm?) whilst still sllowing the Euro's to play and the usual Sunday one.

I think the times are fine... but the max 16 for 32 games is bad... I think having a max of 10 games over a schedule of 24 is more realistic. Typically people can only play one day or the other... but crap happens so it's unlikely to be free for EVERY Wednesday for me since Sunday's are never going to happen. So having a couple of Wednesday's possibly off means there is a better chance of getting the max # of tournies played and therefore have a shot at the BIGWIN!...

I am willing to work around my schedule to make these games. If there is a max games. Shouldn't be a problem for most.

I agree too! Giving someone who can only play one of the time slots per week a chance to miss a game or two seems more fair.
Someone mentioned maybe having both games on Sunday. That's an interesting idea.

I'd like an earlier time on Sundays. I wouldnt mind if there was something like max games played 20, max games counted 10.
Maybe go up to 3 games scheduled per week.

Coming in late I'm just going to agree that it'd be nice to be able to compete in the gauntlet without having to play in 50% of the games.
I remember the season that I played all my games and missing a sunday meant zombie poker at like 4am on a wednesday...
...man I used to play too much poker...

X is going to get on this as soon as he gets back into town but I think the clear consensus is both games on Sunday, one in the early afternoon ET and one in the evening ET.
