Hi, I'm new to the forum and saw you are having a pokerleague. I read some of the rules and one of them was that you can only get points for 12 games. But will it be allowed to play more games to knock out competition? Because that would be fun.
Anyways, looking forward to the next Gauntlet. If I had known about this a long time ago, I would have played the first two also.

You can only enter 12. Though, your 12 highest finishes might be a better rule.

Fantastic suggestion, I'll second that.

If 12 highest finishes are counted that would give an edge to the people who are able to play more than 12 tournaments, and I believe that is not the purpose. if someone wants to play more than 12 tourneys the first 12, the last 12 or 12 worst (points wise) tournaments should count.

Yah, we kinda want that. That might help keep all the tournies bigger.

Want what? To give an advantage to those who play more of the tourneys?

I agree we do, but I don't think that's what he's saying.
He says:
Yah, we kinda want THAT. THAT might help keep all the tournies bigger.
My question: What is "THAT"?

Giving an edge to people who play more tourines.
A by-product of which is higher turnout per tourny.

Unless, of course, it drives away people who can't play them all for one reason or another. Personally, I'm not a fan of a competition where I'd be at a disadvantage for having things to do sometimes.

One thing I really like is that we wont be having any freerolls. Keeps the lurkers away.
I think that we really should still have the 12max rule. Now that we moved gauntlet to stars we will have more players than in that hideous AP.

There's a whole lot of math that could go into a ranking system to eleviate some of the problems that have happened in the past. If folks want to work on it, let me know~

Um, why not just average, IF you play more than 12.
So if you play 24 you just take the average of your games *12. This will allow players to play them all, but not really give and huge advantage (more possibibly a disadvantage).

Lurkers are typically newer folk (like me). Given that we may be a bit fishy, wouldn't that help you out? Easier money? Comment seems counterintuitive to a degree.

Lurkers kinda ruin the homegame atmosphere.

So if I win the first one then I can stop since playing more will probably just bring my average down? Unless you mean that this rule is only applied when someone plays more than 12 games (in that case it will work well).

No, you'll win the first. And have an avg of like 50 pts for one game. Giving a total = avg (1) = 50
But if i play 14 at an avg 25 then i get avg(12) = 300.

The Professor - last Gauntlet there were 2 freerolls. Both of these had huge turn outs. Many on these players were lurkers that did not play in any other games except the freerolls. They only played in games in which they did not have to put any money up, now right or wrong this greatly padded the points awarded to anyone good/lucky enough to win that freeroll.
We want players/lurkers that are going to make the Gauntlet a better league. One way of doing this is try to reach the 12 game max.
The above is really what both Pingviini and a500lbgorilla were trying to say.
You really should reconsider, in the Gauntlet you are playing against some great competion but with a friendly 'home game' atmosphere

Cool...I have no problem playing with $$$...I would prefer to play that way. I find playing with fake $$$ leaves me wondering what someone would have done if $$$ was actually at stake.

I really dont have anything against newbies or lurkers. I just didnt like the huge amount of players who just decided to play the freerolls. The winners of these freerolls got huge amount of league points which gave them a really big edge.
I dont play gauntlet for the money, I play because I think the players are better than average and playing against friends occasionally is fun. Also, I see the gauntlet trophy on my bookshelf after this season. *Pingviini dreams*
I bet somebody will now type something like keep on dreaming, penguin.
We should start makig bets for who is to win gauntlet this time! I vote for... Pingviini!!

Nah...you can have the trophy...I want 3rd again - it would be a truly amazing feat to get 3rd three seasons in a row. However I will be playing all twelve allowable games this season...so watch out anything is possible.

I dunno, $$$ seems kinda low stakes, why not $$$$$$ or maybe a $$$$/$$$$ game? Perhaps $$ the $$$$$ if we just $$$$ $$$$ $$$$$$$ in $$$$$$ $$$$$ $$$$ tommorow?
