We got some last season aswell. 'One post wonders'.
They see the freeroll and just sign up I guess.
Oh well, the more dead Gauntlet points the better.

We were all one post jokers at a time, so dont be so high and mighty. This is an excellent opportunity to recruit more people to FTR who will hopefully contribute in the future after playing and discovering what distinguishes FTR from other poker forums, the members.
Having said that, maybe the freerolls should be restricted to contributing members though.

I've always thought this, and I made the suggestion last season. We should do a minimum post requirement to get into the Gauntlet, like 5 posts or something. That'll sort out the riff-raff.
I'm not really bothered by it, just elaborating on The_Cheat's comment.

There should definetly be some kind of requirment to be in the freeroll. For the regular tourneys though I say let em all play. Maybe only people who were members before the freeroll was announced should be able to play it.

Aw, sounds like someone wants a better shot at the money.
The hope is for people to join and stick around.

I promise i didnt start this thread... but whatevs...
ya, the jokers definatly need to poke around a little bit, maybe kick it in Irc. I mean, i dont really mind playin with em, i just wanna get to know em, dig?
I wasnt even thinking about the freeroll, but ya, maybe there should be restrictions on that... i dunno. its not my call.

Look at it from Tyson, Eric, and Xianti's point of view. Anything that increases traffic and generates new membership is a good thing. Newbie participation in the Gauntlet is good for FTR.

Exactly. As much as we like to think this is "our" site, it's really not. There will always be people that check out FTR and don't stick around. There will also be several that do. For those that do the existing members benefit by increased discussion and hopefully they'll also tell their friends, sign up through a few FTR links, buy some FTR gear, etc.

Suggestions noted. We'll do some other freerolls or kick ass promotions for our hardcore members. Xianti, Eric and I will plan some stuff just for you guys!
We can do these things outside of the Gauntlet.

That sounds sweet, but I seriously think most people will leave after the first tourney.

Yeah I was one of those "1" post jokers and former lurker...contributing members should get some nice perks though.
Love the passion and personalities on this site- was the biggest draw for me...
Darwin will be LMAO all night long at any newbies trying to bluff you guys with absolute rags
Just sit back and enjoy the show

I just found the site about 3 weeks ago. I will be on here much more in the future, as soon as i finish up my last week of college ever. Besides the new people that just signed up for the freeroll will be gone after that anyway.

Yea, I know a lot of the people probably have been to the site before and not just coming for the tourney which is great. But there are probably a lot that will just play this tourney too. It's obviously to late to do anything about it though.

3k posts... ... heads up Rilla vs. Fnord.
I'll plan some stuff w/ Xianti & Eric, we'll set a post limit or something to participate... and $200 isn't much of a Freeroll, we can come up w/ some better ideas...
We'll get back to you guys.

Not when there's 84 players! Wow. I thought we'd peak at around 40 or so.

Or some of the bluff calls I saw a 4-straight very scary board someone bluff-calls with A-high.
Ah, they'll get better. I remember the first tourney I played with the people here when I was still a relative n00b. I remember being very impressed with the level of their play. And I was even more surprised with the over all level of play yesterday (in a bad way)
Some of them were bad, others arrogant. Don't think I saw you play, and I don't mean you or anyone else any offense. That's what's this forum is for -- to help everyone improve.
Though I was reading one particular person like an open book yesterday, the cards just weren't very nice to me after my money was in against him.. I could certainly improve in that regard. Maybe I'm too content to get my money in when I have the best of it instead of being a bit more patient...

i love reading through all the posts, it gives me something to do at night when i get back from work, especially since i only work right now. i plan on staying active and develop my game when i start culinary school in january. once that year of fulltime school and work is over, ill be buying in and getting real active in poker. hopefully ill be able to catch the back end of next years gauntlet. how often do you guys do private tourneys outside of the gauntlet, and what is the usual buyin?

I have recently joined this forum, and like the Racer95, who posted earlier, I usually wait until I have something to contribute before I post anywhere. So many forums are filled with morons, I usually stay well away. I was enticed to join FTR, not only for the freerolls, but for the poker league you call the Gauntlet. I have made it on the players list, but with less than half the games left to play, I decided to wait until the next series to get in on the action. Also, I am new to online poker, so I am getting practice in non-restricted freerolls. You will see my name when the next Gauntlet series starts, but even then, dont expect too many post from me, as I usually just read, unless I have something of value to add.

There are probably several people that read FTR regularly but never post. I think it is great that these folks join the gauntlets.
The signup process to get on the players list is filter enough. Nobody is going to go through all that hassle just to play a freeroll. These people are obviously FTR enthusisasts who just haven't gotten around to posting yet. They should be welcomed at the gauntlet games.
By the way, I've only played in like 1 gauntlet game so I should just shut up.
