Hi zaduszak & other exclusive event lurkers:
From now through April 30th, passwords into our FTR tourneys will be released approximately 1 hour before the event begins to all members within the actual event thread (see Post #2).
However, starting May 1st, our goal is to restrict entry into our Exclusive Events to Qualified Members only!
See: How to Achieve Qualified Member Status
The reason for this is that we simply don't see the value in offering the tourneys to the general public (or non-contributing members) because...
(A) It has been proven that the vast majority of entrants in these events (using our old system) historically do not participate in any meaningful way here on the FTR boards.
(B) By posting the passwords on the public boards here, password-poaching websites and social media accounts in turn make the info available to their visitors, followers, friends, etc.
(C) Because of this, the incentive for our true contributing members to play in these events has been severly reduced, and we have not seen the desired corresponding growth in new member participation as a result of posting the passwords here in the public forums.
___
The intended goals of our FTR Exclusive Events are to reward our current contributing (Qualified) members and attract new posters on our forums. Posting the passwords in these threads has not been effective in achieving either of these goals.
Our New Qualified Member System requires a minimum post count of 20 per month to become Qualified and gain access to our Private Forum, where all the passwords will continue to be posted days or weeks ahead of time.
This system is already in effect, but we are providing more than three months notice to ALL members so there are no surprises starting May 1st... when access into these tournaments will likely be granted to Qualified Members Only, with no public password posting.
If you'd like to post feedback on this new system, please do so in our How To Achieve Qualified Member Status thread.
Best of luck at the tables!
-David
