I do wonder how no one noticed the thing at the end before now. But, at the same time, the lame reason they'll provide for that having happened is bound to be entertaining in an unintended lol way.

I've actually been really enjoying the show because of videogum and 2p2. It also helps me appreciate how good actual good shows are, especially Boardwalk Empire since it's the only other drama I'm watching now. |

Now that they kinda fucked up Darryl, Glen is the only chance at a multi-dimensional character, aside from Shane. He's not the most terrible thing on this show by a long shot.

Damn, last night's episode was actually pretty awesome. The said thing is they wrote it that way as a cliff hangover because it was the mid season finale. They need to write each episode like this to have any chance of being a decent show.

Should add that TWD's popularity has nothing to do with the network's savvy; it is popular despite being buttfucked by no-talent assclowns. The networks are hailed as heroes because when a good show comes along, they take credit. But really they're just oligopolies with money and connections which reap such huge benefits that even when they suck ass they still see profits. |

I hated it. I will, however, say that the most sensible and well put together dialogue/character scene was in this ep i.e. when Shane told Lori Grimes was already back. Of course they pussed out on that train of thought by letting Lori get bitchy about being lied to and Shane doing something other than "bitch u crazy" |

My true disdain for this show is that they incessantly drop the ball on providing any meaning for anything. For example, the scene with Blackie and Blondie - when Blondie keeps telling Blackie to leave her to die - we get a sullen and quiet Blackie who decides to not let her die because of, well, whatever. They needed to have Blackie reference something along the lines of how she wont leave Blondie to die because there is so little life left in the world and that life is to be cherished and yadda yadda. But the writers never do anything like this. The characters are so different from normal people that they might as well be extra-terrestrials |

Also, Lost style flashbacks are an absolute must to any post-apoc show. There is soooooooo much that can be done with those. For example, in a zombie apoc, one of the main survivors could be a pageantry type girl who wore high heels most her life and never needed to analyze anything with much depth, but the apoc forced her to completely change everything about herself in order to survive. The show could then contrast the ditzy blonde type from the flashbacks with the stone cold killer she becomes. There is a wealth of exploration into the human condition that post-apoc material can provide, but I have yet to see any of it |

Please don't tell me you're a TWD apologist... This show is ripe for hate watching. The premise is amazing, the acting, directing, editing, and writing are awful relative to the premise to a degree that is humorous, and there are zombies. Really, if there is a show to Mystery Science 3000, this is it.

I'd make the most boring zombie show ever, as it would involve the cast finding and clearing a navy ship (or other large boat), and living happily ever after on an island. None of this holing up inside of a zombie infested prison or farm with no natural protections being forced to fight your way out if under attack. Just clearing the boat little by little, sleeping on the deck until it's finished, then sailing away to find a good place to grow crops, etc.

ya, I have high hopes for WWZ. I got the audio version of the book, was my first time listening to a book, and it was decent. But even though it wasn't great, the people involved with WWZ and the fact that it is departing pretty drastically from the book, so it will essentially be a high budget, high production value, zombie flick, have me excited for its release.

zombies walking across the bottom of a lake or something needs to be done, but they wouldn't get far at all when it comes to rivers and the ocean. depending on their mentality, a zombie apocalypse could actually see a ton of them get stuck in the ocean under pressure or obstacles or currents or eaten by sharks |

I didn't like this in WWZ. Rotting flesh produces gasses, gasses which get caught in the flesh. These gases are buoyant. A zombie that walked into water would likely just get pushed around with the current... I guess some would wash up on beaches, but they'd likely be too decomposed to do much zombieing.
10-17-2012 06:32 PM
#147
| |
Yeah, the whole concept of zombie decomposition isn't dealt with enough, imo. It doesn't make sense to me that a zombie dead for a few weeks should have an intact abdomen, since the body's digestive enzymes mean that it starts to digest itself. Walking around would likely lead to punctures and evacuation of entirely liquified organs. After two or three weeks, other flesh should be totally black.

ya, this is why I've always enjoyed zombie fiction that occupies the hours/days/weeks(at most) after the epidemic. Obv it is all fiction, but skeleton warriors require much more suspension of disbelief than people infected by a virus that essentially makes them "undead" and have a craving for brains. Of course WWZ and TWD zombies aren't magically assembled skeleton archers, but the disregard for biology makes them further along on the spectrum then say, zombies from 28 days (who, iirc, aren't actually dead, but just infected with a virus that causes them to rot away and crave brains).

| |
Regardless of how they react to the water, it would still be a better deterrent than none. In Walking dead the zombie caught only partially submerged in the well fell apart when being pulled up. So if they decompose to some extent that makes it hard to zombie as boost said. And even if they were just fine, they wouldn't be able to climb the side of a large boat, or likely to make it to a distant island in large enough groups to cause damage. Not to mention, if I lived on an island, then they would have to deal with the large ditch I dug around the outer portion of the island.

Oh and can animals not be infected/zombified? Not sure if the infection is supposed to only apply to humans, but I want to see like a zombie dog just wrecking shit.
