You need to watch the series. It escalates nicely. And since I have no training in PS beyond what I've discovered by myself, I'm learning some basic stuff at the same time. I've got a Wacom Intuos tablet and Adobe CS3 Master Collection so I'm trying to get reasonably conversant one program at a time, starting with PS. Illustrator is next. Found lots of tutorials online obv.

Wow, nice. I'm much into page-layout myself.
Total Training has been an invaluable resource, particularly vids by Steve Holmes. But he only did After Effects and Indesign (Photoshop in that series was done by Deke McClelland, people somehow assume he's like Photoshop God, but he sucks at teaching people. While its obvious he knows his stuff, it does not come across easily). Also, look into stuff by Burt Monroy (more likely on Lynda.com).
Total Training never dissapointed me though, so I wholehartedly recommend them to you.
