I was wondering if I would be able to use a couple of sections from the mainpage, particularly:
Charts - Outs and Pot Odds
River Strategy - Folding on the river
Post-Flop strategy - Pot Odds
I am giving a presentation in my game theory class in a few days and wanted to know if I could use that material. Proper credit would be given of course.

Aceofone,
I have turned down all previous requests to use our FTR copyrighted material - and there have been A LOT - but this is the first opportunity I've had to actually HELP a college student with the distraction of poker!
Anyway, here are my terms. Due credit to FlopTurnRiver.com please. But also, if this is part of a term paper or written essay on game theory - how about we post it here on the website? I'd love to check it out, and you may be able to help other poker players. I took game theory in college also, but was not a poker player back then. This may be interesting to more of our members than just me. And of course, we would give you all due credit for your written work.
Let me know what you think.

Its more of a presentation about how game theory is intertwined with poker, I'm going to explain mostly how pot odds work and the mathematical aspects of folding on the river; however, there is one part about bargaining power that hasn't been repeated ad nauseum here that I'm working on. Basically how to get the best offer when a player asks for a chop/deal. I'll definately post back in this thread after the presentation with the material and how it went though. It should be up in here in before friday.

You may already be aware of this, but Sklanky talks about his methods for doing this in his Tournament Poker book. I forget the exact title.

As an Econ Major, I had some interesting Game Theory material in my classes. One of the great things about poker is the way mathematics, game theory, psychology and instincts all work together for successful players.

I completely agree, I started my presentation with saying: "Poker IS game theory."
On to the main note of this post, the presentation was a huge success, I actually ran quite long for time and the prof had to cut me off. I don't know how I did as far as my mark goes, but people were stopping me on the way back to my seat saying it was fascinating.
More importantly I had an epiphany standing in front of the class, I learned where fish come from and why we don't have to fear them improving: Some students were wide eyed through the pot odds section even though they had never played hold-em (I live in Van which is 2/3 foreigners) but some students couldn't be bothered to care, I realized that it is not that these fish are dumb, they just don't want to know, they're happy believing poker is a game of luck. I ran into these people when I was doing tech support for HP. They are completely happy in ignorance, curiosity is not a part of their vocabulary.
Once I figure out a way to upload my handout up to the computer I'll show you guys what I gave everyone. (Any tips? its a .doc file)
Thnx to ttanaka and the admins for the permission, I made sure to that everyone knew where it came from and tried to get a few of the people that were really interested to come visit the site if they want to learn more.

Oh, I just thought about this Eric, were you a macro, or a micro guy? I prefer micro personally, but macro has its good sides too (National Asset Accumulation is something I'll never understand though; boo fiscal policy).
And RDolivaw, I wasn't aware of this, but thank you for the heads up, if sklansky has written about it, I'm not gonna try and one up him, but I will go out and read that as I'm curious now.

AceofOne,
I could help you with the .doc file - if you email it to the webmaster here at flopturnriver.com, I'll convert it and post it if you'd like. Again, it is your doc and won't be copied, distributed, or anything without your permission.
I'd like to look it over and put it up here in the forum, and if it receives interest, I'd like to put it up off the homepage with full credit to you.

I though this post was dead, along with my notes.
I tried e-mailing the presentation handout to you guys, but wasn't going to make a big deal about it due to the fact is was a cut/paste of the outs chart and a quick explanation of how to play holdem and how to calculate pot odds. Though I received a high mark for the presentation I failed in teaching more than ~5 people how to calculate them, as stated above I realized where fish come from due to my classmates disinterest.
I got a kick out of the few that listened, they came up after class and starting asking about studying holdem, they all got referred here but I doubt any have joined the boards.... Yet....
