Yeah capping it would be extremely stupid. 6660 is still a lot of money. What is the projected first prize? Do you guys think a pro is going to win it or some internet d00d.

day 1a , 1 b and 1c are all "play 2200 down to 500-650". which would lead tme to assume that ur starting with 6600 people.

That could easily mean they're just expecting 6600.

do you think they'll increase it to 50K or 100K buyin in future to keep the numbers down, i guess this would reduce the number of online qualifiers by around 5/10 but pros could still afford it (maybe)

Raymer said of a 50k buyin event something along the lines of (Not a direct quote) "Why play in a 50k buyin event with no dead money?"
They have the Professional Poker Tour if the pros need to get their "I'm the best of the best" fix.

yah... the buy in is sure to go up, but I dont think it would be to limit the number of entrants.. if people will pay 10k they will pay 15k..
I dont really care though, none of this concerns me. 07 is my year.

The thing about it is that it's to the point that just getting to the final table pays nearly as much as winning used to. I'd guess they are making far more now than they used to make.

[Warning: Econ major]
Supply and demand applies here too. Raise the price, entrances
will drop. At a certain point, adding a ton more people with $10K
is less desirable than adding fewer people with $15K, for whatever
reason you want to guess -- perhaps contracts with limited space
poker venues, diluted 'star power' at the tables, length of time and
infrastructure necessary to run an event, whatever. But there is
a point on the curve where the cost to provide one more chair is
no longer worth the money brought to the chair by the player, so
he needs to bring more money... and someone will stay home
because of the extra money.

Is anyone here playing?
I'd like to see David Williams vs. Dan Harrington vs. Daniel Negreanu vs. Phil Ivey vs. Howard Lederer vs. a couple FTRers vs. someone from "Tilt".
