ok, so the big topic of my Utilitarian Spending, Out of Control thread turned into a discussion basically on chicks buying guys drinks.
I say, of course it's always BOC to convince a girl to buy you a drink! Not many guys have pulled this off, and not many have the balls to pull it off.
my roommate and I enjoy going to bars and picking up on girls. So for awhile, it was fun to compete to see who could get more numbers that night, who could make out with more girls in a week, etc. but I think the number 1 favorite contest is How Many Drinks Did Chicks Buy You?
Now, some have called me cheap. But it's not "cheap" of a woman to get free drinks from a guy. There are plenty of professional women earning good salaries, though most of the girls I hit on are around 21 and playing with daddy's money. I don't see why it should be considered cheap of me to get a girl to buy me a drink, when women do it all the time.
I've never found any benefit to buying a girl a drink, although there are certian "obligatory" situations such as:
- You are on a date
- You already made out at the bar and don't want to piss her off
I am a feminist and hope that women can start changing the minds of the world and stop using their sexy time powers to get guys to buy them drinks. Women instead should offer to buy drinks for the guys that are worth a drink -- degree, a job, decent looking, don't start fights, don't act like a gangster, intelligent, etc.

My question is what would you think if a girl came up to you and asked you to buy them a drink? If thats cool then whats wrong with you asking a girl for a drink...
Funny thing was my mind changed as I wrote this. I was about to say I'd tell the cheap bitch to fuck off but if she comes off in the right manner (i.e. we had been having an itntersting conversation and weren't at the bar) then of course I would. Thing is I would probably tell a lot of real good girls to fuck off just based on the principal that they think they are worth a drink to me. I think offering to buy drinks yourself is probably the more polite and appropiate way in my vision but theres nothing wrong with getting girls to buy you drinks.

I know of a guy who met a girl and claimed he was rich and had a Porsche etc. to impress her. When she asked to see it he said no problem and took her into the parking lot and went to an empty stall and was like "Aw fuck! Someone stole my goddamn car!"

Anyway, that's great you're a feminist and all dude but here's the thing, you're the one trying to pick up the girl. So you're the one initiating the social contact. When you do something like this you don't want to do it asking for something. You do it offering something, ie a drink. It's a standard social thing in human culture.
If a chick approaches you and wants to buy you a drink, then by all means that's cool. But chicks just generally won't approach guys. But to start some, for lack of a better word, relationship by asking for something is just so wrong.

Funny side story...
I just turned 21 and I'm hanging out in a pool hall that doesn't ID people that just walk in. This fairly young looking girl comes up to me while I'm sitting on a stool in the corner of the bar with her girlfriend close behind her. She looks a little unsure of herself, but steps up fairly close to my face and asks me to buy her a drink. Now this girl is OBVIOUSLY under 21 and quite possibly could be jail bait.
So I reply, "Why would I want to buy you a drink?"
The girl looks dejected but her friend leans in close to her ear like she's trying to whisper something to her, but I can hear her clearly say, "Just DO it!"
So I'm a little confused what she means when suddenly the girl in front grabs my package through my shorts and starts squeezing my dick (in a good way, not a horrible ball torturous way)...
I nearly dropped my beer and fearing of jail-time (and probably VD) I told her to hit up somebody else.
Cliff Notes: Girl asks me to buy drink and rubs my johnson as motivation.

sorry courtiebee its very location dependent, I live in Santa Cruz which is a large predominantly WASP dominated university. There are very few men or women at 21 with a real job. I am 24 and got a job locally through at a pro audio software company designing audio pitch correction & harmonization software for the pro music industry (you hear our technology on most of the albums you own, most notably that annoying effect on the cher Believe song and the Akon songs, etc.)

Fnord is right, it works actually best as an opener to a conversation. You usually don't get the drink right away (if at all, some girls just refuse or think your not being serious) but the girl thinks "who is this guy??" which is always good. Then you can offer a trade such as "well, I will dance with you if you buy me a drink" or "you can have my phone number if you buy me a drink". Basically the effect is to turn things around and make her chase you (while being respectful), which is really what she wants to do anyways
I'd say you get the drink maybe 1 out of 4-5 times, then you get basically totally dissed 1 time, then the rest is at least an interesting conversation/discussion as you have something to talk about (e.g. gender roles in the dating scene). Often even if she won't buy it you will get a good in with her, and continue the next time if you hang out talking about how she 'owes' you the drink, and i've gotten offered the drink out of the blue after seeing the girl a second time at the bar because I ignored her and she wanted an in to me!
now, this shiat isnt gonna work in some places. Forget about it in Vegas for the most part, as girls are getting free EVERYTHING constantly, I mean you can try it but dont expect to succeed very much.
btw, the feminist line in the opening post was a joke, as hitting on girls in a bar is like the anti feminist and this tactic works best to exploit feminists. I love this line especially in Santa Cruz because its filled with feminist girls taking womens studys classes. roffle.
