Allllright:
I have cable internet running into a wireless router. From the wireless router I have a wireless connection to my laptop, and a 'hardline' to my desktop. With me so far?
I want to move a file from my laptop (wireless) to my desktop.
How do I do so?
Running xp on both machines.

ya ya. I threw it on my thumb drive, but thats not the point
I can ping from my desktop to the laptop through its name (vaio), but I cant see any of its files. The folders are shared. Firewall problem?

Just run thru the networking wizard on both machines ... XP makes it very easy. Otherwise, use a jump drive.

Setup the same workgroup on both machines and share a folder or two on each. Then you go through Network Neighbourhood to reach the other machine.
