I'm just getting towards the end of season 1. It's quality. And I've got 4 more series to get through! Yay.

Well, let's agree that McNulty's awesomeness arcs down from season one and bunks upward. Where they start is perhaps more a personal preference.

yeah season two was a curve ball that just goes to show how awesome the show was, it go without any 1-2chars/plot lines without missing a beat. Plus White Mike is the best name ever
hmm now I may need to rewatch them all next time the netflix cue looks iffy

ZOMGSA UIABPFIUJBASFASF A WTF NOOB
I did the the newspaper section was the least good thing they ever did, and the final mcnulty story line was obv a bit out there and sorta wait wat-y. also I think by then the bar was set really high. I will be interested to see how it stacks up watching them all closer together.

if this is not the best drama ever made, it's definitely tied at number one. It'll make you ashamed you ever liked other cop dramas.
i dont care for the hate on the fifth season. it was just as good as the others, except that the bar was so high and everybody was expecting something else. what most of us dont acknowledge is the theme of the series and each season. the whole series was a greek tragedy and about changing it up, and the each season had a specific theme that most (including myself) dont get.
i watched a lecture with david simon, and nobody in the audience even knew what the fifth season theme was until he told them, and this theme was fantastically enacted.

Just started watching a couple of months ago, a little more than halfway through season 3. Please no spoilers itt.
I thought Season 2 was meh tbh but Season 3 is making up for it big-time.

i'm reading Homicide by David Simon at same time -really good book - though never ending. Loads of The Wire is taken from the book.
2 more episodes then I'm on season2 - bit worried by some of the comments, but i'm sure I'll get into it.
lol Spenda - only thing thats sucks is Omar.

The Shield is awesome all the way, the finale is one of the best I've seen on tv. I think I like The Shield better than The Wire overall, but then again they aren't really the same type of show other than both involving cops.

you should watch homicide. it's still probably my favorite tv series of all time (or certainly way up there) and it has quite a few familiar faces from the wire.

Gotta give this show a chance after reading these reviews. The Shield is still awesome, got 1 till 5 on dvd but for 6 and 7 I'm depending on the internet... will get them soon, so looking forward to that. After that I'll definitely be focussing on The Wire

Ive seen 0 episodes of the wire. Is the entire series on dvd?
Scale of 1-10, how much will I enjoy this show? Don't be a fanboy!

im watching it now too, im on season 2. IMO season 1>season 2. The acting was a little better, the project drug set up was really interesting, and a lot of the stuff is repeating from season 1.
