I hate frozen pizza with a passion. there are some halfway decent ones, like the 8 inch ones that cost $6, but at that rate id rather just get it from somewhere else. like why the fuck cant someone figure out a way to make a pizza, freeze it, and when i heat it up it doesnt taste like newspaper with sweaty balls rubbed on them.
ffs.

+1. Digiorna makes a FINE frozen pie
Then again I like Totino's party pizza's for like a buck. Cook them to almost burned, apply generous amounts of salsa, and fold like a giant taco. mmmmmmm good

OMFG Massimo. Is it wrong that i want to jerk it to your avatar??? I thought she looked hot in Xiantis, but yours is just sick. Whats her name??? (i know who she is, but i obv didnt watch much cuz Canada sucks at gymnastics and everything else except hockey apparantly)
Reidak, this is something ive wondered about too. I mean come on, with the shit they can do nowadays you would think they could make a good frozen pizza. It has to be a conspiracy or some shit.
Delisio aint too bad and they have them in Canada, but you're obv better off ordering one.

As a former owner of a 4 unit Pizza Company I feel I can answer as to why most frozen pizza is junk. The main problem is that you can't freeze dough, and then still expect it to rise normally. The yeast basically dies when it is frozen. The so called rising frozen pizzas, do not use a regular type yeast(it may not even be a yeast) to make their pizza rise.

also, why did spoonit get a strike? i always thought he bent, but carefully avoided breaking the rules

no
everything is not a regular type of something else.
the home you are in right now is not made from a regular type of wood. the clothes you are wearing are likely not from a regular type of fabric. even the air inside your home is not a regular type of air.
the artificial or modified is not harmful, the harmful is harmful.

I dont put the wood from my house in my body, and a lot of the time "the artificial or modified" is harmful.

thats actually not the case when in contrast to the 'natural'. according to pseudo-science sources it is, but pseudo-science has no greater rate of accuracy than randomness.

I wasn't saying what they use is bad, it just isn't the same as a 'normal' pizza place. I say normal because some big chains do not make their dough in the store.
Also on a side note 60% of the flavor of a pizza comes from the sauce.

I do not know if the yeast argument is correct (feel free to correct me though) but yeast works usually at room temp or in a fridge. And the yeast puts air pockets into the dough. Well yeast is killed when it goes into the oven regardless of anything.
So yeast is really only acting before the crust is cooked.
So couldn't yeast be added to frozen pizza dough let sit out for yeast to do its mojo then frozen, when cooked it would be identical yeast mojo'd to normal pizza.
Or am I missing something?
And kinda off topic, I usually by the small personal frozen pizzas when they are on sale buy a ton of em for like $1 each. Then I usually buy cheese and other toppings to throw on top. Makes it semi decent.

Yeast is 90% inactive 34-38 degrees F. It will rise but only slightly in a refrigerated environment. It increases activity as the temperature goes up. It eventually will die at higher temperatures(~120+), but the typical pizza that comes out of a conveyor or brick oven, is around 150 degrees F, so the yeast is active until it is about 75% cooked.

I had a Baron's last night and it was like 1/3rd the price of Digiorno's and still did the trick.
