Alright, Im looking to move and Im hoping for some suggestions, right now here are my current options:
-I currently live in Vegas
Palm Desert, CA
San Antonio, TX
Austin, TX
Tempe/Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ
Tampa, FL
These places afford me the ability to work yr round b/c of their warmer climates. I grew up in TX and I am kinda leaning on moving back there. I've never been to CA or FL and Ive only spent a handful of days in AZ. What does everyone think about those areas.

I'd go with cali just because I've always wanted to live there. AZ is too far away from things in my opinion.

Arizona is my favourite place in the US, so that's my vote. Never been to Texas though...

How exactly does one go about funding and just randomly deciding to live places?

You probably mean living in SF or LA though. If you look up Palm Desert, CA on Mapquest, you'll see that it's not exactly in the middle of things. Out of those places I think the Phoenix area probably is the nicest place to live.
Like you, I'd always wanted to live in California. Now that I've moved here I really do love it, the only problem is it's expensive as shit. Thank goodness I play poker or else I really couldn't pay my rent on the salary I get, and I don't exactly live in a fancy place.

Weather is warm year-round, real estate is not too expensive, job market is good, and Phoenix is a big enough city that there's plenty to do there.

AZ is a shithole. Move to SF or SD, everywhere else blows hard. Actually SD blows hard too but not as bad as LA. SF is a pretty nice place though if you dont mind bums and homosexshuals.

Nice weather, hot women and good real estate. Also around the scottsdale area you can play at either Fort McDowell or Casino Arizona.

Oooh, good point, I didn't even think about having a casino nearby to play some live poker. That's a point for AZ and a strike for TX. I remember some thread in the past where someone wanted us to plan out his life for us, maybe I need to start something like that....

That was me. I'm going to be a Ballistic Fireworks Test Pilot on the side while I play poker full time. Live in Nassau or Dubai ... or Scottsdale... while I drive my Mustang and date that internet chick with the long tongue. Its all coming together.

On moving up, properly rolled:

Then it's decided, I will see you in Scottsdale
Side note: I forgot the most important criteria, the place w/ the hottest/coolest chicks. Here is my ranking for that
1. Scottsdale--so many hotties
2. San Antonio-- hotness + cool girls
3. Cali-- Im a sucka for beach babes
4. Austin-- hot but stuck up
5. Vegas--slutty but gold diggers (and Im a broke cracker)

dont live in tempe, its a shithole. I lived there. There are some nicer parts closer to scottsdale, but I stayed closed to mesa on apache blvd, not really a dangerous place, just grimey. (nasty) Hookers and drunks and stuff. Rent is dirt cheap in the phoenix area though.
I honestly really didnt like phoenix as a whole though. I live in chicago, and Im so used to orienting myself with a large body of water. You can do this in cali, you can do this in miami. Phoenix though just doesnt feel right, theres no beach, and its hot as fuck. I know it sounds like a minor thing, but because of never having my bearings right I never felt right.
San Diego is a nice city. LA is not a 'nice city' but it has its benefits. San Fran is a really cool city, but like the other two its are expensive as shit.

I've been to San Antonia TX, that was nice, but I wouldn't move there
Also been to, Phoenix AZ, that was good dammn Hot!!! but it was ok
Also been to TAMPA, FL
Tampa is one of my favorite places I've been too. Clearwater beach is not to far and it is absolutely awesome there!
Also YBOR city is close to TAMPA, and that place was off the Hook when I went there.(tons of chics, 2miles of bars on one street)
SO I would Vote for Tampa.
The Gulf coast of FL is just amazing.

If you are broke, cali is not for you! Ridiculously expensive man... It's nice here, but I dont know if it's worth the cost.
