Sometimes the right thing to do is respect your parents wishes and authority. However, there comes a time where you need to be your own man, letting your own judgment and morals guide you. Has this time come for you my son? Is it soon to come? Only you can answer these questions through introspective inner dialog.
In line with this, be weary of family too eager to control your life. Family is like religion to me, they offer great benefits and can be a huge asset in your life. Strangely herein lies the problem with them, because these relationships are such an asset they are easily abused. Don't let family side track your life just because you feel you owe them some undying devotion. There are tons of snakes, cons, and otherwise shady characters in this world, anyone will admit this. Clearly these people belong to someones family, oddly enough no one wants to admit that they are sitting perched in their own family tree.

What were some life lessons you learned when you were young that are core principles for you today?

I only did it because some people wanted me to create an entire forum just for me. That's silly. So I compromised with my "Ask..." thread.

Im not sure how to answer this one in a positive way. Up until recently I was a pretty unhappy bitter person in general. I have really good memories from all periods in my life, but I cant say I was happy overall. Most of the major events earlier in my life all the way up until maybe two years ago just jaded me and gave me a sour outlook on life. So during the early years in my life I cant really say that I learned many positive life lessons.
All of this sounds awfully negative I think, but actually its not. As I said it hasnt all been bad. And while I didnt exactly learn the life lessons at the time, in the past year or so Ive done a lot of reflecting and grown a lot. In the past I would just drown all these feelings and experiences, I would suppress them. At some point though it clicked and I realized I had a wealth of experience, yet I hadnt been taking advantage of it.
To more accurately answer your question; one of the most important life lessons Ive learned is that you have to be your own man. You cant let anyone else run your life. Cut your own fucking path in the jungle. It seems simple, but its far from it. There are some tricky applications for this. One example would be someone being shady to you, doing you wrong, taking advantage of you. You can do one of three things: You can let them set your path and retaliate against them, being a douche back, treating them in a negative way. This clearly wont make you happy, it cant. You can let them walk all over you, and I dont even need to explain why this one makes you unhappy. Or finally you can disassociate yourself with this person, distance yourself. This seems like the easy choice, yet it take s a lot of will power. I all too often observe people in these parasitic relationships, either playing the roll of the bully or the victim. They dont pull themselves out of it for several reasons, some being that they are afraid of being alone, or they feel that they owe this person something for some reason (they are family, or have been freinds for a really long time.) This is all bullshit, the relationship is flawed, and its rarely going to be resolved. You can be rich or you can be poor, but you cant be happy if most of your relationships are flawed. Pretty much what Im saying is to not get tied down in these relationships for whatever reason, be your own man, walk your own path.
post script disclaimer: Im a bit drunk, not gonna read over this whole post, but Im guessing since its so long it might be a bit of a rant, but Im cool with that.

Pine tree, cuz they stay fresh with that thick green 365.
Nah seriously, I dont know how to make it a metaphor to my character, but I like pine trees, esp the pine forests that were planted but then forgotten. So you have these stretches of pine that are in perfect line with each other. If you ever stumble across one of these patches its amazing, eerie as fuck, but relaxing at the same time.
(if you dont know hwat Im talking about, think of the fight scene in mortal combat between johnny cage and scorpion.)

Im not sure what the sh and n in your izzles stand for, so Ill just ignore that...
As for the roof and parents deal, I mean, each case needs to be looked at individually. I agree that in a lot of cases you are just being a dumb kid and you should follow the rules. However there are plenty of circumstances in which the parents are just wrong, and even worse conniving manipulative scumbags. The problem is that when these conniving manipulative scumbags threaten to kick you out if you dont follow their asinine 'rules' they arent bluffing when they say they will kick you out. Being a teen and homeless isnt cool, so avoid this at all costs.
Short reply: not much is black and white, and this isnt one of the exceptions.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

i never got the whole black people like fried chicken stereo type. i'm white and i love fried chicken, probably more than most black people (unless of course the stereo type is correct because i like it a lot but not so much as to go insane like the above gif if kfc were to go bankrupt and everything which in fact would suck because they have some good chicken, but i mean i wouldn't lose sleep over it. so anyway ya, where did the stereotype originate?)

Its a staple in soul food, same as matza balls are a staple in jewish food. For some reason its just more prevalent for people to use the food as an insult towards black people. For example you could say "you matza ball eating piece of shit" as an insult to a jewish guy even though matza balls are quite delicious. It just doesnt happen as much as "you fried chicken eating piece of shit" ...
Idk, prob not a good answer, maybe Ill think about it more later.

Im not sure if massimo remembers but I was catching a cab home from some place that we got some food at. I try and flag down like 3 or 4 cabs, they all slow down look at me and wave me off. Then I remember I have my hat on and baggy jeans, I take my hat off and put it in my backpack. Very next cab stops for me.
This has happened to me several times, everytime I get passed up multiple times then I take my hat off and the first cab stops.

hah, matza boy is pretty much right. You guys buy your hats already beat up from the store or you buy them and scrape the edge of the brim against the sidewalk to make it fray. We buy our shit nice and try to keep it nice, this is just that concept to the extreme I guess?

I hate people that "fray" their hats, i think it is stupid and redneck. Is keeping the sticker on how to "keep it real" as you say in the hood?

Why does this not apply to all clothing, e.g., size tags or labels left on for jeans or shirts? Why does the ball cap get special consideration in the thug life fashion ensemble?

it actually was a 'thing' to keep tags on your stuff for a while, I guess that this is the only carry over from that trend? I never kept tags on my jeans or anything else, but yah, def was a trend.

lol, even I kept the tag on my old Philadelphia Eagles hat when I was like in 4th or 5th grade. I used to live in the hood (kind of), and all of the cool kids were doing it so I did it too, supposedly it was to make it look like you stole it or something, but that's through the eyes of a 10 year old, so who knows?
P.S. I never actually lived in "the hood," as compared to some people......but I grew up in a pretty rough part of Kansas City when I was younger.

Thoughts on hats for anyone who likes my advice, i.e. noone: Unless you actually play baseball, don't wear a baseball hat. It almost always looks ridiculous. A few can probably pull it off (especially hot girls) and we can make further exceptions for specific events such as spectating a live game.
While we're on the subject, hat backwards is for catchers only, no exceptions
