What's the best item/toy you've been able to buy because of poker that you wouldn't of been able to buy otherwise? And don't say entries into a large tournament... well I guess you can

Well ive made enough to buy a brand new car but adrenaline is far more important to me so I continue to drive a piece of shit and buy nice toys. And the only reason I started any of this was because the money I got from poker I considered free money so started doing everything I always wanted to. There isnt a single thing on this list I would have without poker.

1. Beginner Wingsuit type thing a majig so now I can fly around 100mph forward in freefall and will look more like a bird and less like a falling human. This actually just came in the mail today after 7 weeks of waiting.

2. A javelin odyssey fully loaded (Most expensive and 1 of the best if not the best container u can buy)

3. Spectre 120 main - micro raven 120 reserve

4. My original skydiving rig - PD 170 with tempo 170 reserve and a dolphin container - with cypres equipped (automatic deployment device incase u get knocked out or dont pull which are about 1400 bucks)

5. 180 jump tickets with 100s more on the way

6. BASE jumping rig that I should get in the next 2 months or so

7. Climbing gear for renegade antenna climbs so if I slip I dont plummet to my death. (u wouldnt think climbing an antenna would be scary but trust me it is fucking scary on those skinny ass ladders (600 ft high) - far scarier than jumping out of a plane - at least the antennas I have experience with.

8. New Computer custom built by myself

9, Projector thats about 120" on my wall.

10. The cardplayer alaskan cruise im going on with soupie, davsimon, scgolfer, and radashack in a little less than 2 months.

Countless other shit since I have no job you could really consider everything I spend money on benefits from poker.

1. Bought a computer that was custom built and put together by me. (Boondock helped me pick pieces out.)

2. I also bought myself a new car.

3. A bunch of other random crap for my g/f.

Hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!! Thats actually the main reason I started skydiving was to get experience for BASE. One of my skydiving buddies just married someone that lives about 80 miles from the only legal place to BASE jump in the US all year round and once he gets situated out there me and 3 other local skydivers are going out there and jumpin our asses off the bridge all day everyday for like a week or 2. Its tempting as hell to jump off one of my local atennas but I want to be over water first to get used to my pack jobs first since if you fuck one up your dead cause there is no second canopy. Over water 99% of malfunctions wont kill you just scare the shit out of you.

If u like watchin stuff like that go to www.skydivingmovies.com and go into the BASE section. Look at the larger ones with high ratings and some of em have really amazing footage on it.

Some of the better oens u can just search for if you want

BASEbyBlairyo

Slim_A_BASE_life
- this guy is dead its like a memory video but one of the best short base videos there is. The jump that killed him is actually on the video it just doesn't show the landing. It was from the Jin Mao tower in shanghai.

2nd_base_teaser_300k - this is another favorite - amazing footage but short cause its just a trailer

1stbase
- very good

Im not gonna list any others because im not sure if anyone even cares to see em but it is amazing footage and if anyone is interested ill make a list of all the ones worth downloading on there cause ive downloaded pretty much every BASE video known to man.

What have I bought:

1. 1977 Corvette (rode like crap so I sold it)
2. two car 1/4 scale dragster race team w/trailer (too much time so I sold it)
3. New HP computer with TWO 24" Samsung Synchmaster moniters (still got)
4. Buying a sinker making business
5. Bought a small apartment building that was a fixer upper (building and materials were paid for with one tourney win)...fixed and sold
6. More tacos than you can imagine (there is a flea market taco stand that has killer tacos)
7. 8-10 r/c race cars and not the toys you get in toy stores or Radio Shack...nice ones from a hobby shop (translation-real expensive)
8. More online poker clothes than my closet has space for (I love promos and points)
9. Always being able to walk around with lots of spending cash in my pockets.
10. Proving to my grandmother that clearing a bonus is WORK (and not having to go out and get a job).
11. being able to stay home and take care of the grandmother so she doesn't have to go to a nursing home.
12. being able to take the time to learn things...Since I started I have had the time to learn how to fly fish, learn how to make websites (using html and front page), learn how to use my computer better (when I started I was a complete idiot)...yea I know I still am an idiot.
13. Sitting here drinking Vanilla Coke and eating cookies while I play has given me a large gut too.

The coupons appear and run out. Google "dell outlet Inspiron coupon", or just "dell outlet coupon", and you'll get a ton of expired/used-up code links, and every-now-and-then can find a current code with some buys left in it.
The big discount is in the shopping -- the best units go fast. It is likely better to find the computer first, then tie it up for ten minutes in your shopping cart while you google for a coupon.

Battery life on Full Power is only a couple hours, maybe less, and there is a saver setting that extends that time. I haven't played too close attention to battery life, but nightly I jump to my feet from the couch to go plug in while I'm playing poker.
I'm a know-it-all.

No, really.

i bought a dell 6000 for 1000 bucks (only thing i've gotten with poker winnings). there was an amazing coupon, it was for like 750 off a 1500 dollar laptop.... there were 10000 uses. I saw it online, figured hey wow this coupon is great i will use it.... I got on 1 hour after the coupon went active, and it was already used up. apparently this coupon comes out twice a year and is a big deal... so i ended up paying 200 bucks more. no big deal, but really frustrating!
i betcha that i got something you ain't got, that's called courage, it don't come from no liquor bottle, it ain't scotch

i wouldn't say this would qualify as something you bought, but you a a damn fine grandson to say the least.

cheers to you.

i have been paying bills with my winnings. i plan on covering some debt before i buy myself something nice. isn't that one of the warning signs that you have a gambling problem, gambling to pay bills?

I made a huge mistake of turning $80 into ~1200 grinding it out at .1/.2 NL20 and then cashing out 800 to pay rent / live (have now finished uni) this left me with ~350 to have to start grinding aaaall over again! Now Im applying for jobs so I can keep my BR as my BR so I can hopefully progress thru the stakes.

I hear apple monitors are THE SHIT! However I always was curious if they are just plug and play for pc's, or do you have to go through hell to get them to work?

I havent bought that much... before I moved to phoenix (and the back to chicago again..) I had around 600$ and I cashed it all out to fund my move to phoenix, then that didnt work out some I came back with 100$.. I turned that into a couple thousand then payed my way out of all the debt I had incurred after the failed move. Now Im back to grinding, Hopefully soon I can update this with some fun stuff taht Ivebought.

You all have some great things to show for your poker winnings.

kfellmy, you sure seem to have been kicking some ass in your poker games - what stakes do you play at??

I took out about 1300 to take me and my girlfriend up to a trip to kansas city to stay on the plaza at the raphael hotel and blow the rest on clothes, food, and champagne. It was fun, but the hotel was a fucking rip off considering it cost $175 a night and was no different from a holiday inn except that the raphael had no pool and shittier showers. Whoever ranked it on the top 500 hotels in the world list is full of dog shit.

Also randomly take out money to help me pay for bills, food, and alcohol so that I can take off early from work every day and not worry about missing bills. This may be a leak...but its a damn nice way to get through college.

The best way to go man. Cashing out is horrible. It hinders your ability to move up and costs you money by not allowing you to improve your game and win money at the same time.

Many players are playing well below their skill level because they dont have the BR. I wonder how much of this is dependant on cashing out.
