What is a job/activity in which you are more proficient and skillful than the vast majority of people? By vast majority, I mean you are in the top 5 percentile of skill. If its a specialized activity, like poker for example, then only count people who actually play poker, i.e. are you in the top 5% of people who play poker. If its a general thing like intelligence or physical fitness, then count all people.

I'm also asking the opposite question. What is an aspect of yourself that you need improvement on, or are downright terrible at?

Odd question, but I don't think any of my skills "define" me. My body limits/enables me, my accumulated knowledge accents/augments me. It's kinda like splitting vocabulary hairs but I don't like the question as phrased.

Smithers, use the amnesia ray.

Precisely.

Skills you believe yourself to be in the 95th percentile or higher (up to three maximum

1. Bass Guitar: Although I can definitely improve, I consider myself to be an excellent bassplayer. I've become rusty in the past couple of years, but its something that I demonstrated a talent for from the very beginning and got really good, really quickly.

2. Architecture: This is what I'm getting my degree in. I'll be graduating most likely very near to the head of my class.

Skills you believe yourself to be in the 80th to 95th percentile:

1. Intelligence: I'm no genius, but I do try to stay informed. I'm constantly look up words in the dictionary so my vocabulary is always expanding. I don't watch much television, etc.

2. Poker: I'm pretty good at poker. My real strength is in articulating my thoughts with clear methodology, which is probably why I'm somewhat better at telling people how to play then playing myself.

Skills you believe yourself to be in the 5th to 20th percentile:

1. Short-term memory: I don't even smoke pot, but for some reason I've always been an absent-minded person.

2. Temperament: I tend to be way too pessimistic. I complain a lot.

Skills you believe yourself to be in the 0th to 5th percentile:

1. Physical Fitness: I'm not like a total fat-ass or anything, but I'm definitely not fit. I never exercise, walking up three flights practically winds me. I'm tired all the time, I eat like shit. This is probably the area in which I could improve the most.

yah, i don't like this thread because you're really listing "symptomes" of who you are but not really getting at the core of who you are.

so you don't believe the positive and negative extremes of your persona are what represent you?

Wouldn't your quick capsule description of Howard Hughes be "that brilliant eccentric?"

it's an odd topic because a lot of the words were using probably aren't robust enough for the ideas we're trying to share.

people have incentives not to list what there worst at and a lot of them probably don't even realize that they're that bad at it. I doubt anyone is going to put sex in there bottom 5%, but statistics say that 1 in every 20 members is gonna be a bottom feeder in that department. but yea didnt mean to derail.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

Skills in 95+
being fluid
understanding systems
abstract thinking
understanding
identifying faults and short comings (I'm not phenominal, but everyone usually sucks at this!)
being a student or thirst for knowledge
talking over people
being both social and extremely internalized at the same time/talking to or at myself with people around (ppl seem to like it)
an appreciation for being human and alive

skills in 80-95
an appreciation for the misguidedness of this exercise
swimming like fish
being a fun guy to hang out with
being an interesting guy to have a drink with
quickly acclimating myself to any "environment"
understanding "good" and "evil"

skills in 5-20
desire for accomplishment within the confines of a world which I either don't fully understand or can't bring myself to cope with it's identifiable (to me!) shortcomings.
hand-eye coordination
spatial understanding (I get lost like woah!)
listening (not just hearing and figuring but truly following)

skills in the 0-5
appreciating this exercise
allowing anyone extremely close to me to be wrong (when I feel I know they're wrong!)
fighting (I have never cared to fight, nor do I think any fight between anyone aged 21 or under is less than a hilarious commentary on all parties. Life experience limits this bullet point.)
truly and deeply caring (maybe these words don'y carry the same weight with you as I intend! I have loved but what does it really mean to care!?)
accomplishing anything alone
taking the second step (the first is usually easy. this is very abstract!)

My roomate said, "haha I love that one because it's so fcking true!"

Then he inspired me to add:

95+

hearing the world around me and imagining it rather than seeing it. (my eyes focus on nothing!)

and thusly

0-5
eye contact (under conscious effort, I'm alright but I always feel something in my gut that doesn't agree with eye contact. I don't understand it and a lot of people say they don't notice after I point it out to them.)
