any of you know matt maroon? i read a few of his blog postings and found him to be a real whiner. he goes on and on about the money he makes and even talks about how he doesn't really like playing poker. it is just a job....... he is that annoying guy that just rails on people all the time. classic self-esteem problem.

les, you are absolutely right, but it just makes me laugh when i see someone like that who thinks they know everything about everything. actually, now that i think about it, that is how most of the people in the forum act.  but dammit, they aren't dissing FTR!
from what i read on that maroon's site, he is a LIMIT player, and his disrespect is toward whoever did a writeup about LIMIT. i would be curious to know if he can effectively play NO LIMIT as well, but if he is a pro, i would think he can.
what really got me is how he came across as only in it for the money, and then disses a board that is full of people that love the game......period.
i am rambling......i just thought i would post it for comment.

I find it funny how unprofessional he acts when hes trying to sell a book, not to mention he spends his time writing a 2000 word blog entry insulting poker communitys and their skill level. Then he advertises his book as a book for players of all skill levels... which is pretty funny since he goes around and makes fun of beginners.

Well considering the stakes he is playing his skill level should be a lot higher than your average poster on this forum, therefore its logical that he will find 'bad advice' on this site. How many of our members are trying to make 250k this year? Why he feels the need to diss the site on his blog I dont know, maybe it is an ego boost for him. I think for your average player there is a lot of useful information on here.

Ok, this is the last breath I'm going to waste on this guy. His book that he is writing sells for $10 on amazon. Must be some valuable information in there. Why would anyone buy that book vs one from the big names. I did an internet search for his name, and all that comes up is his little blog. He's a wanna be. Obviously no one reads his blog, he's gotten at most 9 comments to one post. Time for us all to wish him well and move on.

I'll probably buy his book thanks to this thread.
FWIW, I think he is correct about the specific items he mentioned in his blog in the 6-max guide.
Though I disagree with him that you have to see 30% or more flops to be good, I don't think that a VP$IP above 30 is all that bad since a good portion of your VP$IP will be devoted to defending against blind steals, depending on the game. I used to see about 23% VP$IP, but it's up considerbaly now thanks to defending and stealing more often.

i guess even if we rail on him, and he rails on us, FTR gets more traffic and he gets more hits and possibly more people buying his book. let's drop it and stop giving him free publicity..........i am sorry i started this now.
