My guess is that after his big cash in that MTT he proceeded to lose a lot of it back. After struggling to play a bit higher he moved back down to his usual limit, but still couldn't get anything going. The frustration eventually became too great and he stopped playing all the time. He might even have developed a slight aversion for the game. It's a common occurence. Too bad though, because I liked the guy.

Fnord thinks this happens a lot and fuels a lot of the bigger games. Fnord does not think the Soupies of poker are the only big long-term winners of the MTT Lotto. When looking at the top 200 posters, Fnord sees a lot of names of players who might tell a similar tale.

Fnord is referring to himself in the third person, which is somewhat worrisome

Edud didn't lose all his money. He had personal problems that went beyond poker, which I won't disclose here. I still talk to him, and he's doing better now, playing poker a bit again, but FTR is very likely low on his priority list.

My RL name is Shane. One day I decided to create a drinking alterego named Shane.

All I did was say stuff in the 3rd person and every 15 minutes say

"Drop Into the Shane! Doyousmellthe Shane!? THE SHANE SMELLS BAAAAD!"

Good times.

Smithers, use the amnesia ray.
You mean the revolver, sir?
Precisely.
