Did anyone here even get into Warcraft III? I know there are a ton of Starcraft fanatics here (me included).
I played through the missions back when it came out, but never got into the multi-player. I just re-installed it cuz I'm bored with life, but I'm broke and can't afford a new game. Whenever I play 1 vs 1 against a comp I get WTF pwned.

Great storyline. I started playing it again the other day. I never play multiplayer though, only against the comp.

I played through all the missions and the frozen throne expansion on the hardest setting a couple of years ago. This past summer I tried doing it again, but when I ran into one of the harder timed missions I ended up screaming at my comp "WTFever, I already beat you! I don't have to do this shit again."
Seriously, some of those missions are almost impossible on hard. I don't know how I did it the first time around.
Never got into the online multiplayer. All online games are on a self-imposed ban after losing a year of my life to Everquest.

I played WOW for about a year and a half. I was in the number one raid guild on my server, quit a few months ago and it gave me a ton more time. I miss playing with my buddies though.
Now I'm playing Company of Heroes, that is an awesome RTS. I just downloaded the demo of Supreme Commander last night, haven't played it much yet.

If you want to talk about WoW please find one of the many threads. I'm convinced Blizzard designed the game to harvest souls.

1000 is too much, this isnt TA... we have the TA sequel coming already. But yah, definately have bigger caps than wcIII, that was a big reason I stopped playing that game so soon.

Back in the day I was really into SC and after playing all the time I got pretty damn good at it. I also played a fair amount of WC and WC2, Diablo, and way WAY too much Diablo2. But I stopped playing Blizzard games obsessively about 6 years ago. I never got into WC3 or WoW, and I don't see myself doing so in the future either. If SC2 ever happens, I'll probably pick it up, but other than that I have little interest in Blizzard games nowadays.

yah I pretty much feel the same, maybe Ive just grown up? Now I have trouble playing any sort of games on my computer or on consoles. Only thing that really keeps my attention is poker now. Besides that Id rather do more activities in "real life" now. Instead of counterstrike, Id rather go paintballing, instead of gran turismo, Id rather go to the race cart track, and so on.

Haven't read any posts under the original.
Warcraft III is the shit. 1 HUGE change from WII and Starcraft is that heroes are now integral to playing.
If you want advice on strategy, go to battle.net and look up the stuff there. We should play.
I don't wtfpwned by 1v1 comp. I have troubles with 1v2 comp (I win maybe 33-40% of the time), but yeah. It's not like starcraft where you can turtle and survive. If you turtle, your heroes don't level and you get WTFpwned by the opposing army. Problem is if you do a 1v2, the other team has two the resouces, twice the troop making capacity, and you usually get wtfpwned.

So what you're saying is if there's twice the opponents than they have twice the production capacity....hmmm...those tricky devils

Well yeah bigred, but that used to be easily conquerable.
I used to love playing 1v7's vs. the comps. It was really fun.
But that would be suicide in WCIII. There is NO WAY to counter that production capacity in ANY way.

you didn't miss anything
I've read most of the stuff on battle.net. A lot of it I already knew. I'm struggling with the early game, like how many troops to start attacking creeps and what not. I run into the enemy after 5 min and it's heros are level 4 and 2 while mine are 2 and 1
I'll let you know when I become decent

Ghost was canceled and the entire console group was re-assigned. There probably is a press release that can say more. I gained a lot of respect for the mangement for canning a project they could have shoved out the door to recover some losses because it didn't meet Blizzard quality.
Fnord currently works on unannounced projects and right now can only leave it to your imagination what those might be.

The other big difference is that Starcraft has hard counters. If you see your opponent build W and X, you can build Y and Z and pwn him with a far smaller unit count. Because of this, it's also a lot easier to recover from unit loss. In W3, unit loss is a much bigger deal and the top players are really good about controling stuff in detail.

hellgate london looks pretty amazing..
I think a 3d diablo game that ditches the isometric view would be really cool. But idk, a huge draw of diablo is online play, but an online rpg that isnt a mmo... dont know what point there is to that now.

I could have sworn there was an article there for build order, plus steps on when to begin creeping.
Here; what race do you use? It's been awhile, but I shoul dbe able to help you with your build order/ creep timing.

Before I played poker, I spent too much of my time playing this shit. I was rank top 5 for a long time. Recently in my poker downswing I played again and got my rank back to top 10. Now I'm back to poker.
And I eat 1v2 (humans or computers) regularly for breakfast

back when i could actually make money by playing warcraft, orc was one of the strongest races. Sometime about 2 years ago, Orc was severely weakened. Coincided with my picking up poker.
Now I'm competent with NE and UD too and very mediocre with Human

writing articles and powerleveling (i.e. people would pay me to lvl up their accounts)
writing articles could make me about $20 an hour.
Leveling people worked out to only about $6 US an hour, but i was gonna play Warcraft 3 anyway.
