I just had to let everyone know I voted against my right wing, social conservative, Bush nut dangler, senator today. I was tempted to vote libertarian, but I didn't want to completely throw my vote away.

I voted against the conservative candidate too (well against the more conservative candidate of the two rather). I live in NY though where the polls show something like a 70/30 split. So I could have just as easily not have voted and it wouldn't have mattered.

short term I would rather have kerry, long term Im happy bush got relected because this country can finally get it through thier thick skulls that neo conservatism is not the right path. If kerry would have won, a bush clone prob would take offices in 08.

FWIW, as a brit i dont care who is in charge in the U.S so long as they are commited to path they take, whether its bush's war-bandwagon or any other random who wants world peace.
I just get the feeling kerry would have shit himself at the first sign of a tough decision.

A friend of mine commented on the election in the following way which I feel sums up some of my feelings:
It is nice to see that if a political party lies to the public to start a war of choice that costs hundreds of billions of dollars and thousands of lives with no end in sight, conducts all manner of secret programs that generally ignore the constitution, not to mention the geneva conventions, advice from outside sources or facts AND molest children that they get thrown out of power.
