i read this on another forum.. you need to read closer.
it was more like, if convicted, she faces *up to* 5 years in prison. meaning that there's a huge chance she'll never go to jail.

my bad, i thought u were trying to imply that she was going to jail for 5 years definitely.
The problem in cases like this is that the police and prosecutors have too much power.. like there are so many laws with so many "up to" clauses that they can link people messing with someone's video game to "manipulating electronic data" which carries a 5 year maximum sentence. It's really quite a joke. It is what it is though.

afaik, she's not in trouble for the virtual killing (because it's not a crime) but for the illegal hacking she did in order to make his character dead
