Actually could someone please explain something I've always wondered.
What age is the average student when they start high school in the States, what are SATs for and have they really got multiple choice questions?
Just a few ponderings I've been loosing some sleep over recently!

I start high school at uh... 14? It's the last 4 years of non-college school in the US.
The SATs are one of two standardized tests that colleges use to compare you to other people without meeting you. Since there's no way to know the competancy and difficulty of teachers and classes that each kid is taking.
Yes, the SATs are multiple choice (Now they have an essay) and you can take them as many times as you want.

I haven't figured out second semester this year, I'm still juggling things around trying to make them work, but I have first semester figured out.
Math 200 (Calculus III)
Phys 214 (Electronics)
Phys 210 (Geophysics)
Astr 200A (General Astronomy I)
Only taking 4 classes because with these four classes alone I have 19 hours/week. If I took another one it'd be 25 hours, which is more than 8 non science classes, way too much for me.

Well I'm bored at work so sage advice time:
Take your time. As pointless as college will seem sometimes, it's a fun time in life that you're unlikely to repeat. I've never met anyone who took 5 years to finish school who regretted it, and looking back I would have taken 5 as well if I knew what I know now. If you think you'll want a masters, think about doing it right away, it's tough to get back once you've bought the house and the car and....
Don't worry too much about learning. Good grades are fine and marginally important for that first job, other than that it's more about becoming yourself than job training. You'll forget 70 % right after you leave, and most of what you keep won't help at your job anyway.
Party. Whether that means keggers or laser light shows or all night slasher movie marathons to you, do it. You'll never have as much energy again.
Get a job. Everyone I met in college that I'm still in touch with, I met through my job at the dining hall... that includes my wife!

Ahhhh .... University ... those were the days.
Trust me when I say that you should savour every last minute of it. You'll never be around so many young, available beautiful women again in your lifetime. (although, you are going to a Technical school so maybe it won't be as good for you as it was for me).
'Work hard and play hard' was always our mantra ... but the 'work hard' part was always, well, hard to pull off. Playing hard is really easy if you're into partying and chasing woman.
Last pieces of advice: Don't schedule classes for Friday mornings, and don't try and learn all the material for your mid-terms the night before the exam. You may have been able to get away with that in High School, but in University, you actually have to learn as you go otherwise you'll just have too much stuff to absorb the night before.
