The recession thread made me think of this. The last time I was at a casino something very unusual happened. I had just sat down and it seemed this old man was getting ran over. He was talking constantly but not in a negative way towards anyone. He is involved in a pot that was probably only about 20 dollars on the flop and this younger player bets into him. The man rips off onto some tangent about how he knows hes getting bluffed but he doesn't have much either and how this always happens. It goes on and on and on and eventually the guy starts to cry. He start blubbering asking us do we know how much money he has lost? He's begging for his luck to change around. The table is completely silent the whole time before someone softly tells him to compose himself. It was probably the most awkward spot I have been in in my life. This is a grown man balling over a 20 dollar pot. His opponenet in the hand told him about 5 times to much his hand and that he was beat. The man finally mucked the hand.
For this guy to cry over such a small pot.....I'm sure he has lost a ton of money in his lifetime. It was pretty sad, the guy needs a gamblers anonymous flier.

You should have called time on him when he started crying.

Did you stay at the table? did he? That sucks, I would just leave. Yikes. I felt icky when my friend cried while I was at his house and his horse died. Just weird.

Yeah, not too comfortable with the male crying scene myself.

Things like this used to make me have second thoughts about poker sometimes.
Then I remember my parents going hungry so I could eat when I was younger.
So fuck him. If the son of a bitch was running good he wouldn't feel a damn bit sorry for anyone that he took money from, so I'd stay at the table as long as possible and try to milk the bastard.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

I thought for sure this story was going to end with him shoving all his chips in through the tears and sobs.. and then rolling over the nuts...

this was funny.
yeah i can't stand seeing grown men cry. soooo akward , one of my old roomates would cry sometimes after getting all drunk @ the bar. over stupid shit that girls would cry over. for example , social services came to this house we were stayng at to check out the "living conditions" of this broads child who we lived with , of course my kinda sorta gf was the one who called and told them we were selling drugs out the house but anyways later that night he came home and started crying over it , about how can someone be so scandalous (which obv i agree is pretty scandalous but come on no need to cry) i would have laughed at him (my friend) , but i was always so zooted that i really found it annoying not funny and would try and calm him down because i didn't want to hear him talk.
