Tribal Wars!!! (World 1)

Does anybody else play this? It's a browser-based MMORPG type game. It's more like a strategy game though to be honest. Basically everyone starts with one village, you build up resources, troops, etc., then you attack other villages and stuff like that. It's not the type of super-advanced game like you're thinking, and a lot of the stuff is text and you don't see animations for battles, just results. I posted a few ss's at the end so you can see what I'm talking about.

The game doesn't really require a huge time sink, but you have to be able to check in on the game a few times a day to make sure things are running smoothly. Also the first 3-4 days are pretty slow as you're basically just building up your resource production. I'm a bit over a week in and I'm not going to lie, it's pretty addicting. Mostly my attacks have been plundering the resources of weak, inactive players. Here's a screen of the battle report from a bigger one last night though. The guy had way more troops and way less resources then I thought, so this was a huge mistake of an attack.

It definately looks like an addicting game, and not a fold preflop. Maybe a limp? I just don't have that much time to play games. I conference call and such all day for my internship so I can browse FTR but not play games.

it's reasonable to just spend a few minutes at a time playing, several times a day. Especially at the beginning.

What's funny is I usually go for the more hardcore games and I get really into them. But it's kind of cool playing a more laid back, smarts-type game like this for a change.

If you're interested, I could get my tribe leader to send you an invite. My name in the game is the same as FTR, and you can search me and find out all kinds of info about where I am, my tribe, the members, etc.

I told you this on AIM but I figure I might as well tell everyone. This sounds like a pretty good idea, and to be fair, it would probably be good everyone had the same start. The mods for this game are opening up a second world where everyone can start at the same time. In this game, new players start at the edge of the map and are obviously significantly weaker then the players who have been playing for a while.

lol i think we're like 2 continents apart. The whole map is a 10x10 grid of continents i think, and its not full either.

Not sure when the new world starts, for some reason I thought I read it would be sometime in July, but yeah, it obviously wouldnt hurt to start playing in this one. I'll probably keep my account in this one and play the new one as well.

Things Lukie has done to piss his neighbors off, thus far:

1. I'm the biggest, badest mother****er in my area (true).

2. I attacked one guy who was active but not as strong as me, and wiped out his entire army. The bastard didn't have many plunderable resources though and I lost a bunch of guys, so I have a grudge against this guy. His troops shouldn't have been there and he should have had lots of monies.

3. I 'attacked' my ally with a scout. Meaning, it wasn't an attack on his village, but basically I sent a spy after him. Apparantly, he got upset and this is a terrible-mannered thing to do. Oops. The scout died and I didn't get any info though, unfortunately. I just wanted to test those things out... (seriously, didn't mean any ill-will towards him)

4. I have the following written in my profile; I'll let it speak for itself:

I have many support troops in vaikasass village and Bloody_Kings village directly south and southwest of my border. I consider these villages to be mine. Any attack on them I will perceive as an attack on me as a whole, and I will respond by retaliating in full force.

edit: the thing about the troops in those 2 villages goes something like this: They are both inactive players, and at the start of the game, everyone takes resources from inactive players. Nobody in my area is even close to being able to take over villages, so I've just declared them both to be mine in the meantime. They're so f'ing close to me that they practically ARE me. That's my reasoning anyway, and it works for me.

I've been pissing people off in my area left and right, I gotta stay with this tribe (at least for now). As far as the FTR tribe, go ahead and build it up if you'd like, I'll probably join in the future. If anybody wants to join the one I'm currently in, let me know, and I'll have the leader send you an invite.

As far as beginning strategy, I'm no expert, but I've already sent it to like 5 people so for future reference, my advice goes something like this. I sent it to galapogos a while ago (yesterday, i think?).

You're the 3rd FTRer besides myself to sign up. The others are bigred and Dsmrolla06. Like I told the other two, at first, you're going to want to concentrate on building up your resource production, most notably wood and clay. People can't attack you for 5 days, and even after that, if you're an active player, I'd guess it's unlikely they will for a while anyway. Before that time is up, I'd probably upgrade the wall a few times just in case, make a barracks, and some spearmen. The spearmen kinda suck but they have a high carrying capacity and you can plunder the resources of some of the inactive players around you, and there will probably be a few.

As far as getting a tribe together, that's something I'd be interested in, but in the future. The tribe I'm in is reasonably big and I kind of want that backing right now because I'm pissing a lot of people off in my area. As you can tell in my description, I've already declared 2 villages around me to be mine, and I've attacked another who was already pretty established, and wiped out his entire army. So at least for the time being, I want to stay in my tribe, especially considering the 2 other strong players in my direct area are in tribes that are allied with my own. If you want to join, let me know, and I'll have the guy send you an invite.

Same type of thing except its in space and you have different planets, the coolest thing is you can build a death star on it. I play it with some real life friends and it is addictive as hell. However discussing how you just aquired hyperspace drive level 4 and plasma technology in front of a non player is rather embarresing.

You need to get your villiage headquarters built up a little so that you can build things faster. get it built up to 5 or 6 and then get a barraks. you can build troops while building up structures. for now that's all I know, but it seems that wood clay and iron are god so get as much as you can by getting villiagers and buildings to make or reap as much as possible.

me and bodeist are real close so we should be able to dominate the area soon enough. pelion, if ou joined same time you may be close too.
