To make Flomo jealous.....

I got myself 2 tickets to the top Bordeuax wine tasting in London!!!

http://www.bibendum-wine.co.uk/trade/events

all the top names will be showing the 2008 vintage.

I'm going to feel a bit out of my depth (I love wine and know a fair bit, but this is for the buyers/dealers), but the person who got me the tickets is going to, as he put in his best broken English "Introduce the wine to you for your appreciation".

Fingers crossed I don't get shitfaced and order a crate of something well beyond my means....

so went to my wine tasting last night at Lords. heavy head this morning.

But tried some wines i've never had in my life and most likely never will again (unless I become a nosebleed balla).

I tried:

Chateua D'Yquem - jesus this was good. Prob not worth the £400 odd a bottle but it blew me away. Like a (very small) glass of nectar.

A few Margauxs - all good, but trying the 2008 seems pointless when they need another 10yrs in bottle. had some older wines that were amazing.

Pomerol - all very nice, bit tannic for me though.

St Emilion - prob my fave. Bit fruitier and less tannic than most.

Smith Haut Lafitte - Got a free bottle (£40) of this from a very nice and typical Frenchman (chain smoking, chain drinking, chain swearing) who grew up with my freind showing me round. He's now very high up in the Chateau. Lucky sod.

Good day all-in-all. sadly i'm now going back to drinking mid-range Italians/Argeies.....
