i like the part where he says that he takes it as his personal calling to challenge experts. takes some pretty strong conviction in your beliefs to have the vast majority of all experts in relevant fields disagree with you, and for you reaction to be to consider them all wrong (instead of the obvious of just revising your own beliefs). i guess that's what all creationists do, almost by definition.

FWIW, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The numbers reflect that fundamentalism is dropping, and I think that the further radicalization of Christianity will only harm it in the long term.
Also, the fundies are fighting a losing battle, even though it still fucks a lot of shit up in the meantime. One example of this losing battle is that things like urbanization and desegregation of social dynamics promotes education and critique. The Bible Belt is conservative largely because they're naive due to rigid and narrow experiences from their simple environment; New York is liberal for the opposite reason. The reason this is important is because of the internet IMO. The internet is very new, but it is already a vestige for new information. It really is the place where propaganda comes to die. I mention this because the social conservitards will lose the battle to the internet, and all the children in the schools who are taught that McCarthy was right will not have an easy time defending their dogma when faced with the information and communication capacity of the internet, and this internet is becoming more and more ingrained into modern society
Take China for example. They've come a LONG way in just 15 years, and it's mainly due to the internet. Many potential Chinese emigrants are now choosing to not emigrate due to things being better for them in China, and a recent history example is the Chinese gov't announced it will sell all new computers with mandatory chips that track all activity, but the people rebelled, and the gov't said that they would only put this device on CD and upload is optional. This rebellion and win for the populace was only possible due to the internet
So even though these fundie propagandist fuckbags piss me the hell off, I think they're still losing long term, and possibly even shooting themselves in the foot by getting a whole lot of attention over their retardation
