    Default tear-jerkers

all right so i love watching tear-jerkers so much its ridiculous. and i mean non-romantic tear-jerkers. those are great too but they piss me off too much. other ones even tho they make me so sad make me feel great. i dunno why but its got something to do with sympathizing with the most pure and horrible of human conditions.

i mean movies like schindlers list, saving private ryan, and blood diamond. just watched hotel rwanda again recently, good movie, but really the redeeming parts of it are simply that the story is omgamazing and cheadle's character is cool. its def a tear-jerker still. gonna watch sometimes in april soon. that is apparently the best film about the tutsi/hutu genocide, and that outa be a great tear-jerker. also pianist. also getting a documentary about holocaust concentration camps called night and fog. that will possibly be the strongest one yet.

so anyways give me some examples of movies that you find heart-wrenching in a way that makes you feel incredibly sympathetic for the protagonists.

ive seen saving private ryan like seven times and still cry like six times during it. such an amazing movie. which reminds me, i also got tae guk gi on queue.

dude the entire saving private ryan is too awesome. scene were ribisi's character dies is still one of the best ever. spielberg is still best director ever too. by end do you mean end where hanks dies or end where old damon is at the grave?

armageddon? really? doesnt affleck die? isnt that supposed to be a joyous occasion?

gonna hafta watch gump again cuz hanks is awesome.

im reminded of titanic. wanna watch that cuz i bet its great, but i cant bring myself to watch romances. would rather get socked in the face than watch a romance even though some of them are greatness.

nah armageddon kills me when bruce willis sacrifices himself to save the planet and affleck is crying his eyes out as is liv tyler willis daughter and its the whole hero, emotional farewell thing that gets me.
With saving private ryan its when tom hanks dies thats the most emotional bit, but the grave bit is also really sad, double whammy really. Though i dont think ive ever cried so much than when i watched forrest gump and jenny dies, i was also like 11 at the time and watching it wid my mum and when she cried to i totally went lol. Anyway im now gonna work out then ring my gf so i actually feel like a man again.

or maybe i was crying because my soul knew that later id watch spaceballs and realize that rick moranis is a god and that nobody would realize this and he wouldn't get to make a bunch more super hilarious movies where he has a huge helmet and plays with dolls

once had a cat named oscar whom i adored. after he died all anybody had to do was mention the name 'oscar' and i would start crying for years to come. my dad would get pissed too. his fault for banging a woman with the most emotionally wimpy genes who also coddled her children.

so yea i was a child. its alright to have a vagina when you're a prepubescent boy. actually, im pretty sure that on the genetic level in many ways boys are actually girls previous to puberty.

now i only cry on the rare occasion that a great and emotionally close thing dies, or when my medium-rare steak is cooked medium-well.

ET - aka "how to fuck with an 8 year old". He dies (cry), comes back to life (hooray!) and then leaves! (bawl)

DragonHeart - has to turn on his best friend, to entice his own death, in order to save the world.

I won't watch either film again 'cause of the waterworks.

King Kong - giant gorilla gets captured, only tries to survive and gets killed.

The Green Mile - innocent, caring man/miracle about to be executed. Blubbers like a baby. Hate & venom from the witnesses.

    Cold Feet - Rachel's death.

Imitation of Life - a black girl, who can pass for white, is ashamed & embarrassed of her mother (who is very obv black) and treats her like shit. The end ( I won't spoil it) is absolutely harrowing.

    Any film where animals die.

NB: Braveheart was such a contrived and historically incorrect POS that I can't stand it nor enjoy it as purely fiction. The same goes for The Patriot - Gibson's character had to have a name change as a result. And both movies "heroes" were actually complete twats themselves, in real life too, guilty of many of the same injustices that they were fighting against. Irony, huh?

Actually, any movie where the hero realizes he's missed out on the best years of his life with his father, make me choke up.

I haven't cried in 17 years. However, these movies hit me on an emotional level big time, be it super happy or sad:

    Rocky
    Braveheart
Apollo 13 (I know wtf? But when they come out of the blackout period I'm so happy)
    Awakenings
My Girl (can't believe no one mentioned this one, when that little shit Caulken dies, that sad!)
    Hook
    Rudy
    Patch Adams
    Lion King
Land Before Time ('rilla's story made me laugh. Reminded me of whenI was a kid and I first watched the movie with my older "super tough" cousin and he started crying big time)

Also, did anyone else ever get super sad watching Ernest movies? Always at that point when he realized no one liked him? I mean, I know it's an Ernest movie but holy shit. When he thought he lost his dog in the Hallowe'en one, his only true friend in the world, pretty rough I tell ya.

Actually I break out in tears at every movie that has terribad poker action, because a little piece of me is slowly dieing. I was sobbing during the final poker scene in Casino Royale's straight-flush over Quads over Straight Flush garbage.

Also the latest hearthrob movie Lucky You made me cry a bunch of times.
Time after time when they are playing poker, and again when he folds the nuts against his dad so his dad could go on to try to win the WSO(almost)Poker.

Yeah but there's been so much worse poker in movies. That was nothing, they're just adding to the action for the audience's sake. Not one wants to see a set get beat by a backdoor flush. The part that bugged me the most was how he buys back in shortstacked and suggests doubling the blinds.

Field of Dreams where Costner says, "D-D-Dad? Wanna have a catch?" i lose it everytime right there.

not of the same category, but the wife had me watch "P.S I Love You" with her. lost it because of some stupid quote that reminded me of my grandparents and THEIR relationship.

    Great flix all!

I'm not surprized nobody has mentioned BIG FISH, but it is a very worthy addition, trust me. It's a tough movie to get into; (WTF it has puppets?!), but the ending seriously had me crying for 10 minutes, I just couldn't stop while watching it...
    Hey knucklehead! Bonk!
