I don't necessarily like the Steelers.
I just don't want the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl.

That was jfish, not me.
But in my most humble of opinions, those Browns are now the Ravens and the record should shift with that franchise.
Honestly, the two Ravens games are bigger events than the two Browns games around Blitzburgh.
You're not the Browns, you just a new team with some old uniforms. The Ravens are the Browns.

This has nothing to do with the Browns/Steelers Rivalry, which is obviously not what it used to be since the Browns havn't been competitive, but I strongly disagree with that.
The Ravens aren't the old Browns. The Ravens are the Ravens. The likes of the murdurer Ray Lewis are not part of the old Browns.

Well, when it all comes down to it.
If tomorrow I was forced to eat dinner with the Browns or eat dinner with the Ravens, I would take the Browns in a second.
To me right now, they're just a harmless team trying desperately to get somewhere (And I'd love them to) but i think it's atleast 3 years away. The ravens, though undertalented by comparisson to the Steelers, have ALWAYS come to play against the Steelers. Out top 4 games in the last two seasons are Colts vic last week, and 3 fuggin Ravens games. They just always come to play big and that's what i want in a rivalry.
So Browns are out and the Ravens are in. You can hate me, but I love you and would let you date my daughter cuz you're harmless.

I DESPERATELY need an avatar sized file of either Polamolu diving over that blocker on the screen play OR of Big Ben doing that really stupid wild west guns blazing dance after the Ward TD. Plz, I would love you eternally and probably name you my heir in the commune.

I have to agree with everything there. Truthfully, I have been very dissapointed with the teams the Browns have fielded since their return to the league in '99. They have been in a range from average at best to downright horrible. However, I really believe that with Savage and Crennel running the show, and seeing the moves that they have made, I think the Browns are heading in the right direction. There is an absurd lack of talent currently, but it all starts at the top.
There are some Steeler players I don't like.. Joey Porter is nothing but a punk to me and Troy Polamalu may be one of the NFL's dirtiest players, but I have a lot of respect for a lot of the veterans like Ward, Bettis, Cowher, the whole front office, etc. The ownership runs the team the right way. Hopefully that's the direction my Brownies are going...

I don't hate you 'rilla.. even if you can irritate half of FTR at one time like nobody else. I'm looking forward to some good Browns/Steelers games in the future.. with something at stake for both teams. Good stuff. We'll root for each other when we play the ratbirds...

Did I ever mention I'm a Browns fan? Just thought I'd throw that out there.
Anyway, I looked for your pics. Nothing, weird. If you find a video of the gunslinger I would be willing to turn that into an animated GIF for you.

(taken from another thread - didnt realize this one existed)
Quote:
This is comming from a Steeler fan who thought we were 50/50 with Cinci, 90/10 with the Colts and about 60/40 (in favor of Denver) with the Broncos.
I really don't see anything that scares me by this Seahawks team. If we can get pressure like we have been all playoffs, the game wont be close.
This is, of course, biased towards my team becuase I've seen much more of them. But with our O-line and D-line play recently, it'll be very difficult to beat us.
Shaun Alexander played a lot of soft defenses this year and though he did impress on sunday, it's been a year or two since someone ran for 100 yrs on the Steelers (ignoring Edge's performance earlier for no reason other than to make it sound more impressive)
I don't like to bet on sports, and probably never will for some time. But I really think that
The Steelers are the biggest lock in history.
|
Year after year our leftside (our favorable side) has been improving and many say it to be the best leftside in the history of the game. Its a multiway probowl lineup. I think outside of Edge this will be the first big challenge Pits will see as far as the run goes. I don't really feel anyone besides Tiki and NY in the NFL standup with the run game as much as Indi and Seattle. And as far as the playoff game went, indi's o-line won't compare to ours.
This game will have a lot of weight on who can throw the ball this Sunday imo. We have two the of best rush defenses in the NFL. Steelers bring nothing new that Seattle has not seen offensively running it. On the other side of the coin, Pitsburgh brings something Seattle HASN'T seen, a GOOD 3-4 defense. I can't wait to see how they pair up. The defense for both teams is just so hot right now I think it'll be an amazing game.
I understand you're biased Rilla, and as am I. being a Seahawks fan my whole life, I think we'll win, but no way can I call this a lock. Call our quarterback rating a fluke, call our Wide Receivers nobodies who are lucky, and call Alexander overrated. Say our young defense will crack under pressure. We've heard it all and we're used to it. We're fuckin Seahawk fans from Seattle, what the shit has Seattle ever done?! We know when (if) we win Sunday the first thing that'll hit the papers is Big Ben had the shits, Hines Ward had a herpes outbreak and Bettis didn't get enough chicken in da belly before the game started and we'll still get no respect. We're used to it, but we'll still love every moment of it.
After we beat Carolina and we stayed in that stadium and watched that trophy get raised and all the confetti and fireworks going off in the stadium it was a surreal moment for a hawks fan. We were back out in tailgate heaven eating, have some more beers and everyone was kind of in shock. I'm still in shock. I'm sitting here at work with my Wistrom jersey on typing this looking over at my hawks coat on the wall and my hat on my desk going "is this for real? Am I dreaming?". You've had big seasons before Rilla, this is our biggest. We've never been here before. We were in seventh heaven locking home field and going to the NFC game. This is a fucking dream come true for us.
I think if anything Rilla, calling this game locked is silly and disrespectful to Seattle, but were used to it. I'll take that bet with no spread. Just one guy betting with his heart against another. $100, you up for it?
I hope not for a shutout, but hawks with the win in a close game. I don't want a shitty superbowl. I've been rootin for the steelers after they knocked out Cinci throughout the entire playoffs. To work over those obstucles and get shut out wouldnt' be right.
(that said though if the hawks do shutdown the steelers I will still love every moment of it)
GO HAWKS!

If you'd venture into the Sports Betting forum, you'd see my only reply to the Cinci, Indy and Denver threads were "The Steelers are the biggest lock in history." Of course, I didn't believe that.
And as a Steeler fan, I really haven't had any big seasons. I'm only 19 and have only been a Steeler fan for about 6 years. I was really nervous Sunday becuase I remember last year. I also remember superbowl XXX as a little kid.
It was said that Marty Shotenhiemer could never win the big game and that Cohwer was his greatest pupil. And he really hasn't produced in the big game.
The Colts win was absolutely shocking to me and the Denver game was less shocking but still suprising. It just seems like this team is motivated to win more than I've ever seen.
I really think that if Palmer didn't go down, we're probably in trouble in that game.
Basically, it's just like having a big rush of cards, you just don't feel like you can lose.

The colts game didn't shock me when I watched it. I think Ben played the absolute best game of his carreer that game. He was incredible. The cinci game though, that was interesting. I really think if Carson hadn't have gone down, it'd be a coinflip. Kitna (an old hawk) almost pulled it off too but ran out of steam it seems second half.
I just can't wait. I think it'll be an absolutely great game.

Haha, I like running my mouth man. I really didn't have any interest in putting a grand or 10 grand up on the game, and if I did, it certainly wouldn't be with no spread. If I was an oddsmaker, I'd put the line somewhere around Pitt (-3.5). Truthfully though, I'd have no problem putting a grand or 10 grand on something If I really knew what I was talking about, but sportsbetting isn't exactly my specialty.
Sorry for the confusion.
