I really want the season to end without closure on what happened to Tyrion. That would be soooo troll

Cersei and Bronn killed it this episode.

I'm surprised that people are misinterpreting stuff this episode, like Stannis being taken prisoner and Sansa leaving with The Hound.

Honestly, I missed what happened to stannis. I saw him on the castle walls at one point, and then Tywin charging in saying the battle was over a few seconds later.
  6. #81
He was pulled away by his men as his host broke ranks, screaming, "Stand and fight!" You don't scream, "Stand and fight" when you're being captured.

If it weren't for all the logistical issues, I could see Sansa going with the hound, but it seems quite clear that Stannis is being pulled away by his own guys.

I'm pretty sure there's only one more episode this season and they're just around the end of the second book. The Red Wedding happened near the end of the third book (which was huge) so probably won't happen until the end of Season 3 or maybe even Season 4.

it would be beyond boss. but no, even though i worked out the logistics of doing this in my head, i don't think they'd do it. they can milk a whole 'nother season of Robb and Cat and "Starks as protagonists" out of this.

AH HA! 'Game of Thrones' scoop: Season 3 character list revealed | Inside TV | EW.com and Game of Thrones: Features - Interview with David Benioff and Dan Weiss

TL;DR: Mance Rayder, Tormund Giantsbane, Daario Naharis, Jojen Reed, Meera Reed, Edmure Tully, Brynden Tully (Blackfish), Selyse Baratheon (Stannis' Wife), Shireen Baratheon (His Son), Olenna Redwyne (Queen of Thorns), Beric motherfucking Dondarrion, and Thoros of Myr were intentionally delayed until Season 3, and not just straight up omitted.

They did this because the important side of the story for these characters doesnt come into play until much later in the books, and Season 2 already introduced a fuckton of new characters. They say that introducing too many characters too quickly gives the audience a headache, and likely tanks a show.

Further: The battle of the blackwater was included becasue the entire season builds up to it. Battles are super expensive, and even doing what they did made them go over budget.

edit: also, season 3 is splitting the book in two. Idk if that was mentioned before or not. Good plan too, so much shit goes down in that book.

The whole episode was pretty bad imo. I have problems with everything from plot to acting, but on the plus side the others looked freaking badass.

Yeah the house of the undying was a fail. Her visions there (the three betrayals, etc) are pretty important to the Dany plot line.

JV and some others in the 2p2 thread dont seem all that interested in the zombies.

I want to think that the show is purposefully giving them that feeling. Every single person south of the wall except Tyrion seems to not give a single fuck about the wall or the zombies, and making the audience share that feeling would just be neat.

No one south of the wall even believes that the zombies exist. Not sure that they covered this on the show but when Alliser Thorne took the wight hand back to kings landing it was rotted before he could make it in time.

Aint no reek/ramsey shenanigans here, ser rodrick died inside winterfell instead of to Bolton forces outside it.

Theon as reek...that could still work. It looks a lot like theon got captured. He'll probably have 1-2 episodes before season 5 where hes tortured and starved and shit, and then bam. Reek reek it rhymes with meek!

@Whitewalkers: Lul, tvshow ppl ask too many questions. Like George Troll Troll Martin has any intention of ever telling us what the fuck the whitewalkers are up to. Im really hoping book 6 gives us a POV of their side, but i doubt its gonna happen

George RR Martin , author of the bestselling series 'A Song of Ice and Fire' , has said that the sixth installment will not be published until 2014. At a press conference, held in Oviedo, where he participated in the Festival 232 Celsius , said that 'Winter Winds' is written 200 pages and many others are still under review."

Only the principal POVs have been known by GRRM from the start. Some POVs have been added when needed. The Meereenese Knot, for instance, was broken only when Barristan Selmy got his own chapters. He was ideally positioned to deal with all the relevant characters and events, and was one of the few that spoke the language. GRRM does not intend to add any more POVs. In fact, the number of POVs is about to decline. "Take your bets," GRRM warned.

GRRM has gone the unconventional route for nearly every character thus far, what makes you think he'll stay on track for Theon all of a sudden?

In nearly any other fiction we'd have seen some interaction between Dany and the other characters but GRRM felt that would have been unrealistic and instead left her on Essos for the entire story thus far. Nearly everyone that Arya wanted to take revenge on has died or been maimed at someone else's hands. Jon Snow, the supposed heir to everything (King in the North and allegedly son of Rhaegar Targaryen) is dead at worst and reanimated by Melisandre at best. There aren't cleanly resolving plotlines in these books, its only attrition and entropy on all sides.

I'm finding it difficult to figure out where the Sansa/Littlefinger plot arc comes into play here. Is she just going to be used to repopulate the world with snow-loving, honor-bound tree worshipers?

Or is this all just a huge waste of time and filler and she gets randomly choked out by some doped up stable boy?

It has to be something. She's been relatively useless, would like the Stark in her to rise up and play then fuck over LF.

But then again, her direwolf died early so there's possibly symbolism there.

Staying with the direwolf theme, I wonder how Nymeria is going to continue to play into the story. Will there just be brief mentions of 'roving packs led by a massive she-wolf' or will there be some reunion between her and Arya?

WTF IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THESE ANIMALS. NO ONE ELSE HAS THEM. Unless you count the dragons, but those things are just OP as fuck and uncontrollable atm.

Well, Gurm has repeatedly suggested a polarity between Starks and Targaryens as having Ice and Fire abilities, respectively. So I think it makes sense that each side gets a magical animal. As to dragons being overpowered, there seem to be broad advantages to the wolves that you are overlooking. While dragons are mainly brute force and transportation, the wolves are more subtle, not to mention the whole warging deal which not only allows for perception (seeing through the wolf's eyes) and manipulation of the wolves, but ultimately immortality as has been already demonstrated by wargs north of the wall. Not a bad deal when the alternative is a fire breathing loose cannon that is hard to control and a massive pain in the ass to take care of.

I don't know what runs as a spoiler in this thread because, hell, it's all been read

but, some people on the internet have been re-reading and they've come up with some very interesting thoughts.

    First among them:

And it's seriously a spoiler, so you're really spoiling a bit of future revelation.

Really, it won't be so sweet when you find out that...

    The next thing is true...

    Spoiler:
    Jon Snow is a Targaryen.

The son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen
