ok ive self-educated myself at fool.com, and realised i have all that sorted out yey for stupid here.
But, is everything that is available in america (and yes the sites based at americans!) also available for me as a uk citizen does anyone know?

If you are completely new, read as much as possible. Start with Mutual funds, if you are completely conservative then go with bonds.
It's wise to get a retirement fund like a Roth started asap, so the compounding interest can work it's magic. Once you start learning how to pick stocks, invest don't become a trader.
Invest for the long term, reevaluate your investments either yearly or every 3rd quarter, whatever you prefer. Stay abreast on the news of your stocks. Pick stocks in things you use, that's always a good start.
