I work in a print shop and a guy came in who was making himself a custom poker table. He had me to laminate over $200 worth of bills so that he could put them under a layer of plastic/glass making the playing surface of his table.
Being someone who can't afford to play $5 tables regularly, I nearly cried pushing the 50 and 100 bills through the machine.  What a waste of money.

If he wan't around, you could have photocopied the bills and laminated those and pocketed teh real ones. Then you would have a healthier bankroll.

I don't remember exactly what he called it...not glass, but thicker, but not plastic either.

I think this would be a REALLY cool idea just for like the boarder of the table... like on the WPT they have that back lit white boarder, felt in the middle, the nthe cushy leather badded outter boarder. So instead of the white plastic or whatever thats on the WPT tables, you would have a boarder of money.
