Ive seen it before, read an article about it or something. I just dont get it, its not even a game, you just buy things. But I guess enough people put money into the economy so that a minority can actually make a godo profit.

My brother in law makes most of his income from this "game?". He really only does like 1 hour of work a day pulling in $300-700/week. But I still dont really get it.

People too stunned and weird to cope with the real world spend time and money in the environment. They had a half hour segment on it one morning on The Current on CBC Radio.

If there isn't a casino in there, there should be.

Dude there are loads, they're all I could find (apart from nightclubs and a giant fountain shaped like a penis)
Thought I'd bump this thread - anyone else had any experiences since October? I don't really get it in practice (and it's really slow and not very intuitive) but there's something in the concept of the thing that's appealing.

It's kinda fun for a bit, yeah there are casinos.
I mean there are tons of people. You can actually trade in the fake money u get from second life for real money. If you really know how to do the game yeah i hear u can make a lot of money.

I think the big story was a guy who purchased some "eReal Estate" for like 130k because he expected to make a lot more than that.

And that same guy built a space station in the game or something like that. I think this is that game at least.

Yeah, some oriental girl turned a profit of $1,000,000 last year. From my understanding of the game; people play this for fun, as an alternate persona etc etc. The "game" is free form and expansive which allows players to create their own stuff like clothes, entertainment, property and so on, which can then be sold either for in game money (which can in turn be sold for real cash) or for legitamite currency. For example; last year one Australian dude paid I think $300,000 AS for an in-game island.
Basically, good creative designers with good techno savvy can make a lot of money from this "game". Most everyone else just plays it for fun.

Now the Feds are after the makers of Second Life for virtual gambling.
Check out this article today. The UIGEA just got extended to MMORPG's.

It's one of the stock hairstyles to choose from. I haven't figured out yet how to do custom hair correctly.

Yes. But stakes are low, can't multi-table and they're very slow.
